According to the Globe
Ricky Davis was at a loss for points -- and an explanation about what happened. Playing almost 45 minutes, Davis went scoreless for what he believed was the first time in his NBA career. He also could not remember the last time he took just eight shots in a game. ''I don't know what happened," said Davis, who managed to contribute 5 assists. ''They ran me off my shots. I was spending most of the time passing the ball instead of getting my shot. Most of the shots I usually get, they kind of took away from me. I really wasn't trying to force it. I knew I was off. I was just trying to depend on other guys to make shots."
That is completely unacceptable coaching, Doc. Wasn't there somebody else to help out at the SG position? I thought we had options at this spot. Am I missing something here?

Yep, it is correct. Ricky took only 8 shots which is to his credit since he didn't try to force it. But he was virtually invisible the whole game. Saunders did say that one of their major strategies was to deny Ricky the ball and any shots after his Philly game. So the defense did collapse on him every time he got the ball. He also looked tired in that the 8 shots he did take were all short. That says that his legs just weren't there for the jumper. He also was late on several defensive rotations and looked a step slow.
And Doc played him 44 minutes after saying that he was definitely going to get Ricky some rest and Ricky sure looked like he needed it last night. Tony looked good in his time on the floor. Doc could have played him more along with Banks, Greene, even Scal and gotten more than he did from Ricky for whatever reason.

Like I keep harping, Ricky needs to be used as a scorer. Quit giving him the ball to bring down the court and start using him off of picks and screens. His jumper is back, and it needs to be utilized as a weapon.
Now that Tony is back, its time to put Ricky back in his 6th man role. We miss that and I'm sure his impact will be greater in that position.

Ricky has been playing way too much for anybody's good. Is Justin Reed still with the team?
Tony Allen is a much option at this point. We need to get RD off the floor.

I agree. I am afraid that if Doc continues to play Ricky so many minutes that he will ruin him for the season.
His stats have already gone down a little bit, and he just seems worn down. There is no excuse now, especially with T Allen back, and the emergence of Greene, helping to slide D West to the two at times. I really do not see why Doc can't play him 35 min/gm now.
