According the Boston Globe, a deal involving Blount is imminent. The most likely deal, according to the paper, would send Blount to Minnesota for Michael Olowakandi and his expiring contract. The article also mentions that if a third team is involved, Banks may also be sent packing.
This is a good deal for several reasons: 1. It gets rid of Blount.
2. This frees up money which can hopefully be used to extend Jefferson's contract is a few years.
3. Although the article mentions the Celtics may just waive the Khandi Man, I feel the team would be best served to just play him for this season. He is 7ft. 270 punds, if nothing else he is a good insurance policy for Kendrick. Why not see what they can get out of him, and use him as sign-and-trade bait if he plays well, and if not, they can simply let him walk at the end of the season.
4. Memphis may also be involved, which again, GETS RID OF BLOUNT!

I heard it on the radio too. It's miraculous. It's not every day you trade a blount for an expiring contract.

This is exciting because now it isn't just rumor but reported in the paper as imminent. It is pretty funny, but I watched a little of the Min/NY game and just as I tuned in, Kandi got a rebound and it slipped right through his hands out of bounds. I had to groan a bit. But he did finish with 6 rebounds in 28 minutes and only 2 turnovers.... For Blount to get 6 rebounds, he has 7 turnovers....
I hope we keep Kandi and see how he does as a back up to Perk (12-15 mpg) and how he plays in our system. Sometimes it just takes a new system for a player to play better. If he doesn't then let him walk at the end of the year but it gives us an extra big man for the rest of the year as a back up.

I cannot say that I am surprised by this development. Kandi does not bring that much to the table but I look at it as an opportunity to free up PT for Perkins, Jefferson, Raef, and Scalabrine. Blount just did not really fit in. He will help Minnesota in their division.
If Memphis is involved - we may be getting Lo Wright - a solid NBA center. I wish we were getting Shane Battier for RD but that is clearly wishing for way too much.

Alright, now we can get on with the new era of Celtics basketball. No longer are we plagued by skinny Centers who made no impact on defense (Battie and Blount). Its been way too long where we've been inefficient from that spot.
Keep us posted with any updates on this news.

How much you wanna bet that Doc gives about 35mpg to Kandi and then says something like "He's so important to everything we do" and advocates for him to get a $40mill 7 year contract, upon which management gives him $35 million for 6 years and a player option and says "we did real well to get a quality center like Kandi".

I'm sure the owners won't make the same mistake twice. They won't force ainge's hand again. It's clear that Ainge wants an expiring contract, not so much a player, so its unlikely that Kandi will get a Blount-like contract offer.

I just think we have a pretty clear history of mismanagement since the days before Pitino and I don't expect it to end any immediate time soon. We'll see. Scala got a reasonable contract and Dickau got a contract that didn't exactly break the bank, whereas in the past both guys would have received like 50 mill so maybe you're right

Good to hear that Blount could be sent packing. This deal sounds great. I say we hold on to Kandi and use him as a back-up to Perk.

Get Kandiman and waive him. No point holding onto a guy that isn't going to be in our future plans. This way there will be more minutes available for Al/Perk/Gomes/Reed.

Id love to see us turn and trade him somewhere for either a trade exception or an IR contract(a la Chris Mills) and a draft pick. If that pipe dream falls through, cut him. I dont want any big around that could take minutes from the kids. Pick up Borchardt if you need big man depth.
