Rob leaves me with my jaws dropped with his one handed lob dunks and his out of nowhere blocked shots. But what happens when Rob cannot rely on his explosiveness and athleticism -- whether he has an injury, or as the long season wears down his body.
Would Rob still be an impact big? Impactful enough to be championship caliber?
Bigs who don't rely on explosiveness and athleticism can still compete at a high level because they use their skills and savvy, and their big bodies.
Though I'm excited about Rob, if he's got an ingrown toe nail, he'll be significantly impacted.

It'll be up to the coaches to teach him or for management to find the right mentor as an assistant coach (is KG looking for a job?). Someone that can help him with his early recognition so that he can move into place quicker rather than rely on explosiveness to make up for lost ground.
Because you are correct... athletic bigs who are defensive studs can quickly flame out after injuries. I'm thinking of guys like Roy Hibbert who once looked like a star and was a DPOY (?) and went downhill so quickly.

On the other hand, there was a guy a while ago roughly Robert's size (a little taller, slightly shorter wingspan, similar build)and with similar athleticism, who dominated the league for 13 seasons and won quite a few championships as I recall. Played against a guy named Wilt.
