A lot of how far we go this year depends on Tatum. When he's scoring efficiently and passing the ball around, we're tough to beat. But when he goes 5-17 and 1-9 beyond the arc, it's really tough on team (especially because he's not coming through late in games).
This month, Tatum's numbers have been really good, and we have blown away weaker competition. But we lost a stinker against the Hawks because of our poor 4th quarter, and Tatum's subpar game.
Obviously, we need everyone contributing. What I'm saying is if everyone is doing their part + Tatum is scoring efficiently, we are a top 4 team in the East. If Tatum is inefficient, we're fighting for a Play-In spot.
Let's hope Tatum can put up All-NBA numbers the second half of the season.

I agree with this. We got him locked up longterm Plus Smart and Jaylen and Williams. We are in no rush. Tatum is 23. I really want Marcus to play the same way all the time. Guys like Kemba and Hayward are useless to me. They made their money and basically play 35 minutes of mediocre basketball. I'd like some younger hungry players. But Marcus has to playt he same way every game. He isn't like those guys, he has to play a certain way to get paid. But he still coasts. He's on the trade block nowa nd doing what he should be doing. Garnett was the same way too really. He played in Minny so he played above himself. He got here and won a ring and kind of tanked afterwards. These players are somewhat overrated as leaders. They are complimentary pieces. Tatum is our guy.
Guys like Marcus, Jaylen and Williams need to play more consistantly around him. It's really as simple as that to me right now. They are still growing. Then we add pieces depending on who is doing what. We are in no rush.
1-12 really. How the team plays will elevate Tatum. Smart needs a kick in the rear end every so often.

The way I see it, we have 2 spots on the starting roster to upgrade to elevate us to upper echelon status -- and that's a PG and PF.
Tatum, Jaylen and RWill are good, don't need to mess around there. But infuse a PG who's a true perimeter threat and can pass the ball, and a PF who likewise is a threat to stretch the floor and also score inside, and we'll be cookin with bacon grease.
And of course, Tatum needs to be an efficient scorer.

THe thing with Tatum vs guys like Kyrie, Durant, Harden is he allows for other players to contribute in other areas as well as scoring. He's efficient. Guys like Grant Williams are capable of filling up the box score where as with Durant, Kyrie etc. they might not be able to do that as much. You still need talent but it's about the right mix and the team needs to be elevated.
The way the team is playing right now. We are missing a couple more scoring options off our bench imo. The way Smart is playing right now is fine to me and that's what we want. Otherwise we are back to Kemba and it's not good. I agree we can do better than than that. But that's why Ainge was brought into Utah. As guys like Clarkson kind of regress and stuff. he's there to evaluate. Clarkson is a nice scorer but can be up and down himself. PLayers get lazy.
We need a more athletic 4 and another scoring option to me but there is no rush. We haev Smart locked up for 5 years. We have Horford and Schroder's contracts and there might be some pressure to make a deal in that regard. But I wouldnt rush it.
I'm like 10 percent trade Smart. 90 percent not right now. Development is key to me. I'm like the opposite of the internet. There are situations where I would but it's not a super priority to me at all. I have looked at it and made it that. But I'm back to where i was.

It's probably lower than 90 percent on Smart honestly but there are specific things I would do. Those situations may be there but isn't looking too good to me right now. There are situations where I would and the chance of him being traded are probably higher but those deals need to materialize. I've basically listed those and they are pretty specific but not really. The players we can trade for aren't overly and how we get from point A to point B but in theory it is that.
Tatum is our guy though. That 51 point performance completely sold me on him if i had any questions before and I did somewhat. I'm not trading Tatum. There is nothing in the league I would trade him for. If someone wants to offer us an allstar team yeah but I'm still not trading him. I think how we are building with him is fine and what I want to do.
Tatum=99.8 percent won't trade Brown=85 percent won't trade - I would move this up 10 points really. I'd trade him if we are getting Beal or Booker some day. Or a PF or a really nice assortment of wings. I think that is all overplayed. So 95 percent. Smart= 75 percent won't trrade- Same here I'd move this up 10 points. What are getting back? There is a chance we could deal him to create flexibility somewhere. Again overplayed. 85 percent. Timelord=95 won't trade. I don't see any reason to deal him. He needs to develop.
Everyone else I might but I don't see a reason to trade Grant Williams or Bol Bol right now. Nesmith, Pritchard, Romeo not really either. Let them develop. We have picks to replace them if they don't pan out. Horford and Shcroder there are some questions but I'm in no rush to unload them. I like Jrich so far. Nice 5th option. We need another piece there. Preferable a 4 who can range out and has length. We signed Bol Bol.
I'd deal Kanter and a pick to acquire someone. He's our extra rebounder. I really could see us waiting it out and looking to add a piece with Horford and Shroders deals and resign them.
I'd package guys like Romeo and a pick. Or schroder. I don't see their market being that large. I also like Schroder so far. Nice player. Has had some ups and downs so far but starting to get it and has played well. He's what we need as a back up point to Smart if they play the right way.

POint being we want players maxing their potential on this team. We don't want them doing the opposite. They could use some help preferably another scorer to go with Jrich and has some length. Jeff Green is always out there. Swap Kanter for him. Harrison Barnes etc, etc. That's what we need although I'd like a tougher defender. Markkannen would be perfect imo but I think the secret is out at this point. I'm fine sitting on Bol Bol unless some team wants to offer us something sweet. Bol Bol is going to be good in spurts.
The team elevates itself so does Tatum and vice versa. Tatum has the potential to be the best player in the league. He's 23 years old. He has to keep fighting. We hand it to him it's not going to work.
AS far as keeping tatum too. He has to keep improving and value us as much as we do him. He's going to get the supermax some day and probably win an MVP because that's the goal to me. We are going to have to go over the tax line as it is with guys like Jaylen, Smart, Williams etc. I just see this differently. These are the kind of players we want supporting him.
I can see us going another direction if it equals a better team around Tatum but difficult to do and sustain it. There are ways yes.

We're one of the lower possession teams in the league. So when he misses a bunch, we don't have alot of extra possessions to make up the difference quickly. I put that down to coaching and I'd say that whilst alot depends on Tatum...just as much depends on Udoka stepping up.

DM is right. We need to upgrade PG and PF. Everyone but Tatum, Brown and RWill is movable in service of that.
