Basketball isn't all about money or stats all the time. I was starting to criticize Smart's leadership a bit saying Smart as a leader is a bit overrated but when the celtics get it they get it and it has a lot to do with Smart. Not many people understand celtics basketball and what it even is. Watch Smart's passing in these highlights. He is basically running the offense with confidence and players are motioning without the ball and he is finding them in the half court for easy baskets. The more the nba plays hero ball the more they lose sight of actual basketball. The celtics need to keep fighting. Had it nto been for the stretch of work they put in during that 10 game span they would not be playing this way. Things start to come easy but you can't forget how you got there. I wish they showed more in the highlights but there is no hesitation as a team right now with their ball movement. Rebounding is better. The defense is better. They are rotating to their spots with much fluidity. They are attacking the basket. They actually can see the game right now.

I still say people need to stop criticizing everything. The internet in general there is a lot of crazy stuff out there. If you just enjoy it you start to understand it. They lost to the Hawks but they beat the pelicans like they should have because of the work they put in. I wish they showed more of the ball movement this game too.

Smart was consistantly pushing the tempo this game and running down the floor. He would get the ball and immediately move it. This is what Tommy Heinsohn means when he says imposing your will on the other team. The Celtics as a whole are starting to get it. They can still get so much better too is the thing. Their help defense was still a little lax this game but it was the pelicans. They kept letting them back in it. This game was never in doubt though like other games this season. Easiest win of the year like it should have been.
They really should save these tapes if they ever forget how to play again. Or go watch some 80's celtics highlights. Stop trading our Captain. He was even posting up against the Pelicans. Old school players using their strengths.
I think overall both these games. Jaylen missed a clutch 3 against the Hawks. He also missed Tatum in the corner for a 3 and turned it over. Shroder had spurts but struggled at times. So did Jrich hitting timely shots but then would draw a charge or turn it over. Robert Williams can still be a bit jeckyl and hyde. He's still learning and needs to play the same way every game. He needs Robert Parish in him. Robert Parish was the same player, same guy every game. Robert Williams is still growing. There is still room for improvement is the thing. We can push the tempo even moreso. Our defense gets lax at times as far as timing and rotations against lesser opponents.. We need to play for 48 minutes.
We can still move the ball more too. Against the pelicans we were in a zone though. There were portions of that game where there were glimmers of 86. We played the hawks and it just carried over. A lot of the top teams are resting their players around the mid point. Other teams are going in the tank and teh Celtics were caught in the middle and did some work. They've been saying they were going to figure it out.
