Would you want Ben Simmons if it impedes the growth of Brown and Tatum? I really don't think Tatum and Brown can make the passes Simmons or a guy like Bird or Giannis can make right now which is why we suck in close games. Simmons is a wreck himself in crunch time due to his ft percentage and offensive game outside of his passing.
There were plays last game where there was a split second where guys were open the way they were tripling tatum and brown and it made me think about Simmons for a split second too in a no sort of way. I'd rather Tatum and Brown learn. But will they? If we can get Simmons cheap and deal Horford back to the sixers they might bite on that.
Is there reason to believe that Simmosn and Embiid are a bad combination and he might be a good combination here? I've never really thought that. I think Simmons has holes in his game he needs to improve to be useful at the end of games. Our team is terrible at the end of games and couldn't even score a bucket the last 5 minutes last night. So adding another bad piece at the end of games is bad right? Or am i listening to the media too much and simmons would allow us to actually keep leads. Simmons shooting 60/70 percent at the line is still better than not scoring at all.
I think SImmons is going to end up in Philly and fix his game or be traded elsewhere anyways but just a thought.
There is no one on this team that can make the passes Simmons can is the point as it stands. Schroder can't. He can penetrate and dish but isn't rondo or bird or doncic or lebron or chris paul or any of those guys. We lack that as it stands.
Either Tatum or Brown are going to have to make those passes or become better in other ways.

Shroder would attack the basket from the wing but is not the best playmaker in the world. He wasn't even in the game at the end. Neither was Horford. I don't really understand that myself. But it was Robert Williams, Romeo and Grant Williams I think. I could be wrong. BUt it shouldn't matter and I thinkt hey were out there anyways because it shouldn't matter and Tatum and Brown need to move the ball and we need to play better as a team. We need a guy who can pass and attack the rim though and play defense. We have Smart. I still like Smart as the PG is the thing. Simmons at PF is not bad. Much like I envision Bol Bol can be.
We aren't going to get Lamelo Ball or Chris Paul. But Simmons cheap is is not a definitive no to me. Whether Philly will trade him here is the thing> I don't really see it happeneing because they know he's good. he just is a wreck in Crunch time and he and Embiid give them an extra gear when they are both on. Simmons imo just had a bad playoffs last year and may want out. I doubt Philly will trade him here.
They may really want Horford though for a run this year. We may really want Tatum and Brown to keep learning and Simmons would impede some of that and he can't shoot and neither can Williams or Smart. We have Tatum and BRown though so it's like the opposite of Embiid.
Kind of strange we made a move for Bol Bol too to save some money. We may be looking to move Horford for a guy like Simmons. Doc Rivers is our friend.

It's either that or the Celtics are trying really hard for a lottery pick. I think they are actually trying to develop in other ways is the thing. They just don't have the tools to do it right now. Whether it's the lineups they are using or whatever. They don't have a player like that on the team who is going to give them that extra boost as it stands.
We have Schroder and Horford but we don't even use them like we should. Udoka is trying out Pop's system with this team and i like it but it's not really working in crunch time. We don't have Tim DUncan and Parker and Ginobli. We have Tatum and Brown and that's that and that's what we are sticking with right now. ANd even them haven't been healthy at the same time all year until now.
That was a quick no on Simmons to me. But I would make that deal honestly. Horford and Schroder and Romeo or Nesmith for Simmons. Sure why not. Simmons is our PF and 6th man though. Keep Smart at the point. Keep Grant Williams. Keep Bol Bol. Keep Pritchard. PJ Dozier can replace Nesmith and Romeo and whatever shooting they never gave us anyways.
Simmons has always reminded me of Tim Duncan ina round about sort of way anyways. Make him play power forward. I'd even throw in a future 1st or 2nd rounder but would keep the memphis pick if it came down to it and all stars were aligned.
Will it happen? Probably not. Philly will wake up and ask for more. The celtics will come to their senses too and continue treading water with Tatum and Brown. honestly Simmons is no sure thing. Far from it. It's a gamble on our part that could pay off huge. Or he could be an albatross his entire career like lamar odom and a mess his entire career.
I'd still do it. Pretty sure I would. Otherwise we really are looking at trying to get a lottery pick and get a player that way which we still can. It may even improve our chances this year. I dont think Horford and Schroder vs Ben Simmons moves the needle that much instantly. It could. We haven't been using Horford and Schroder like we should be which is weird anways. I don't think Simmons comes in and instantly changes that either. He would need to get up to speed.

The celtics need that guy anyways whether it's beal who is more another scorer and playmaker. Or deangelo russell. They missed out on jrue who would be ideal but he went to the bucks and the best situation. I don't know what else we are going to be able to get otherwise. And like i said Horford and Schroder vs Simmons. Even if it means giving up Romeo and a pick. I still think I would take Simmons in that deal. I don't think Philly is going to trade him here. The AD rumors are even worse. Simmons makes some sense to me and is worth the gamble.
We tried this with middling guys like Kemba and Hayward and I don't think that's going to get it done either. We need to shake it up a bit and Brad might be more willing to do that than Ainge. Either way we go into the draft looking for that guy regardless. I don't think Simmons affects that. He may affect other things like Tatum and Brown developing their passing. Are they going to become Rondo though? I wanted to sign Rondo, Green and Avery Bradley this offseason to give us a legit bench but they went elsewhere and too much money. Jrich kind of does a lot of things for much cheaper and doesn't affect development as much.
I agree Simmons has issues. He reminds me of Tim Duncan in a round about sort of way. Duncan was a sure thing and mr fundamental. Simmons is the polar opposite of that but put him at PF and he fills a need for us. The Celtics have always been kind of a weird team anyways. It may just work. Do the celtics of today think like me? I don't know.

I think Stevens may be more willing than Ainge to move the needle. I think this trade is good for the NBA and I approve of this message. Horford, Schroder, Romeo and a pick for Simmons and ??. Or just Simmons really. I feel the same way abotu Sabonis. But I don't think we can get Sabonis for that. I like both pretty equally. Simmons is still very intriguing to me.
The Bol Bol move is interesting because it's like we are clearing space for a potentially bigger move. Or we may just cut bait. The Haywards and Kembas aren't going to get it done. Simmons or Sabonis might.
Whether some other younger team will out bid us is probably likely. For the sixers really though. Horford and Schroder as expiring deals makes sense. And Romeo and a draft pick. If they are going to trade Simmons and what they'd want for a run this year and the future that makes perfect sense.
