It's pretty sad that the number 2, 3, and 4 league leaders in assists this year could have all had a chance to be a Celtc right now.
number 2 - Baron Davis (last year - Payton, Allen, Googs, Yogi, first round pick trade) I believe it was.
number 3 - Andre Miller - (Potato for first round pick trade)
number 4 - Chauncey Billups (half a year chance and trade for Kenny)
This just shows some of the bad managing of our players and unfortunate decision making by GM's in recent years.

As consolation, hopefully Ainge and Wyc are patient enough (I think they will be) to keep D West around and maybe he can eventually become a top point guard with the Celtics.

If - and - or - buts, won't make a team. Remember, there's no crying in baseball... ;D Same goes for basketball.

Your right, but you have to admit it is frustrating when you're watching your team try to build a winner, and they make wrong move after wrong move.
Lately, with Ainge our luck with this has seemed to change and he does have an eye for talent, and he doesn't make rash moves and trade guys away too quickly. If we all have patience in Danny's "vision", maybe we can get back to "the promised land."

Not to mention losing Ben Wallace because he couldn't play SG/SF, and losing Joe Johnson because they thought Kedrick was going to be the superior player.
Can you just imagine:
Chauncy JJ Pierce Jefferson Wallace

Great analysis Esco. This is one reason why I want us tp re-sign Banks. Sure, he hasn't scratched his surface, but he needs more time to develop. On the court time. It may have been Derren, who said West's improvement has been the fact he is getting more playing time.

Can you just imagine: Chauncy JJ Pierce Jefferson Wallace Exactly Derren. This just shows us that Celtics management has just made some pretty poor decisions in the past few years. Hopefully, with Danny he can put an end to that, which is what he has vowed to do. It is just frustrating that we could be so much better right now (in Pierce's prime). I really do not want to look back 5 years from now and say, "man, we shoulda kept D West who is a top 10 point guard in the league, or man Perk is leading the league in rebounds and we had him once, or Big Al is a perennial All-Star and we traded him for garbage, etc."

For this team, that's always a concern. So far, on Ainge's watch, the only player he's given up on who actually is producing, is Darius Songaila. Giving up on Banks is a gamble, but if he isn't brought back, I would not be devastated. He has the talent, but there are lots of holes.

Songalia he traded, because of Wallace. He didn't give him a chance. However, Songalia is as only as good as the supporting cast around him.

Lack of ability to keep our talent has been a real problem. What we do with Pierce will speak volumes about the new Celtics organization.

Its going to be a big gamble trading Pierce away (if that's what it comes down to). But as I mentioned before, we at least have a lot of young talent who will hopefully cushion the impact of losing Pierce. We didn't have that in the past. I'm sure a lot of you feel good about Delonte, Jefferson, Perk, and Tony Allen. And then there's Gerald Green, who may turn out to be the brightest star of them all.

I would have no problem with them trying to keep Banks an extra year at this point, but I think Orien can be decent too. I mean it took a year and a half for Delonte to show what he could do. Banks has ahd two and a half. Orien has had a half not even. If they keep Banks then I wouldn't be interested in bringing in another guy. I'd focus on the front court. Delonte has totally won me over. I think in the next three years he can clearly be in the top 1/3rd of pgs, which is all you need. It's not like there aren't 5 pgs better than Billups. He can definitely be the top pg in our division. I'd rather have him than Steph. In three years AI and Kidd will both be like 34 after fairly long and painful careers, so that only leaves that young uy in Toronto. If Tony Parker and Delonte switched places in a year it would seem like Delonte was the best pg in the league and like Tony sucked. Time to focus on a backup for him and front court guys
