Yeah I was not big on Kemba at all either. Such a nice solid move by Stevens. As far as contracts and everything. Kemba shoots too much and not at a good percentage and exactly what I'm talking about I don't like. I don't mind when Tatum does it because he is supposed to be that guy but even he needs to improve. Kemba, Brown and Tatum was just too many guys not shooting well.

I've also been very wrong about Nesmith..he needs to step up his basketball effort. Waiting on the perimeter to shoot 3s when you're fresh off the bench??? Come on buddy.. The best 3pt shooters are ALWAYS moving. He needs to watch some Duncan Robinson film because right now he is not impressing anyone.

So Jaylen was on the chess team. I play chess too. Play like it.

Just something lacking with him.. It's like Jaylen at MIT. Jaylen I'm sure is a smart guy but he's being paid a lot of money and is not any smarter than the next guy. And I like Jaylen I really do. But it's an image and a lifestyle. Yep Kemba had that little crossover move for the mid range step back and when that stopped working, then nothing worked. You couldn't get guys to take you seriously as a threat to drive to the hoop when you don't drive at all...so they just keep playing you close and he couldnt get those shots anymore.

Whereas the smartest guys I've seen play basketball are the guys like Shane Battier. Battier could process more information as the play unfolds than most guys could...which made him so good defensively.

Jaylen is extremely good at getting to the basket and playing in transition when he wants to. Physically he can really do it all. In the half court. He's also gotten so much better each year and his defense has improved as well. Where both he and tatum need to improve is within the team.
Jaylen is one of the best transition players in the game. I think Tatum is better overall because of his length and shooting but Jaylen is unbelievable in transition when he wants to be and is a good physical defender too.

Looks like we have this game too sans Jaylen if we don't blow it. Nothing is safe with this team right now and have to finish strong.

Yeah...why does it feel as if even a 21 pt lead isn't safe? I would be expecting to see Pritch on the court and not Schroeder or Tatum.

I don't know why either. They just blow leads. It's because of what we are talking about really. Sorry if I cluttered up this thread. Eja told me to take it easy and I'm trying I could talk about the celtics for hours.
Tommy Heinsohn also died in my time away and it's because of that. I'm sure he's proud of them regardless but they need to be a team that really makes Tommy proud. It's what he talks about every game and I listened to for years. Tortoise and the hare. Marathon not a sprint. You have to impose your will on the other team and just Celtics basketball.
Right now we look too much like the hare and not the tortoise but it's a long season.

The danger here is that a better team like the Nets would've come back from the deficit and then held onto the lead. We got lucky we played a team like OKC. Our bench let us down in this one and nearly gave it away. Except for Kanter who was solid.

I like the jrich signing or whatever it was. It gives them some stability off the bench the next couple years and it's not like they had to pay through the roof for him. I was liking Jeff Green as a potential pick up but he didn't want to play here I don't think and wanted too much money.

Nesmith is going to be good too. But they needed a guy in there to add some stability for the time being. Romeo too. I don't think this team is done by any means. It's always a process. Ainge did a good job loading this team with talent and future talent as well and it doesn't stop with him. We used all our treasure chest of picks but even still. Stevens can make moves. I'd watch what happens with Beal in washington and Sabonis I really like. like i was saying. but there are lots of players in the league.
My dream scenario has been Tatum, Beal and Sabonis and keep building the bench. Keep smart. I wouldn't necessarily make a move for Simmons right now. There are other pg's. Schroder is on a nice deal and prove it to me deal where he is going to get a contract and we can sign him too or sign and trade him after this year or just let him go. He's nice in the interm. I don't think there is any team that can not be beaten. Even now. It's more how the Celtics play.

Grant Williams has been very efficient. I was a little worried about Parker but Grant WIlliams has really played that role nicely.
And then we have Kanter like you said. Robert Williams and Smart start. Tatum starts. Horford and Shroder kind of switch off right now big or small. When Brown comes back too. And then we have Jrich, Romeo and Nesmith who are backing those guys up. And Pritchard as that extra point.
They signed a guy to replace Parker ultimately too. There were rumors they were interested in slo mo from Memphis but they signed that guy to the red claws. I don't know his name off the top of my head. He could be good he might not be.
It's really more how they are playing. I have faith in Udoka though. He's a good hire. Guys like Nesmith they are so young and play such short minutes it's hard to get a feel. Nesmith plays 30 mpg in summer league he's lights out. But that's not his role in the nba.

So getting both to pair with Tatum would be quite difficult. Also the Wizard are looking much better this seasons so there's less reason for Beal to leave.

Beal has not signed yet he is playing out this season. I agree Wizards are all in this year trying to get players to play there and trying to re-up Beal, which lowers the chances. Brown would have to be traded for Sabonis(Or someone like him). I agree it's slim but other players out there. That's just if we go that route. Beal could opt out and we have Shroder and Horford's contracts where we could potentially sign someone or sign and trade them. The Celtics are not in teh same position they were before where they are under the cap. They have Brown, Tatum, Smart and Williams all signed. Like i was saying in that other thread Ainge would have been better served just letting KG and Pierce retirign and drafting better. But that's beside the point. That's just if we are trying to go a certain route. Bam adedayo has been rumored in the media but I'm not sure I'm buying that one as much as Sabonis being available in a swap for Brown. We could package Williams too. Ainge did one thing we have talent and flexibility in some regard. And Tatum and Brown. How it all fits is still in question.
Horford is looking pretty good and like he can play for a while and with Schroder he doesn't have to play every night. They switch off and he rests as it stands. I question somewhat so far this year who Udoka chooses to go big and small against but other than that.
I would trade Brown for Sabonis ina heart beat if we were able to land Beal somehow. But not much less. That's my only point there. I think I would trade Brown for Sabonis period. But Brown and Tatum are good for the future regardless. That's where I would put Brown's value. I think it's around guys like Bam or Sabonis and I would value Sabonis and Bam more so. It's somewhat closer than it seems though. Big or small again. If we land Beal that would make it much easier. Swapping Brown for Beal has also been rumored but I'm not buying that so much right now.
