Though Tatum gets more of the national shine, Jaylen is getting support from his growing fandom that he could be the better overall player.
And seeing how much Jaylen's game has improved thanks to his fierce dedication to work on his game, it is becoming a legit talking point as to who is (or will be) the better player.

I think to the years after the big 3 retired how desperately this team needed a star for all those years. Now we're lucky enough to have 2 homegrown stars.

I'm less interested in promoting the idea that Brown is better than Tatum, than I am in questioning the narrative, especially nationally, that JT is clearly better. Just in the last 24 hours the NBA released its Top 75 players of its first 75 years, and one of the related articles asked who among current players would likely make the next list in 25 years. JT got a mention and JB did not. I really believe it's because JT has had the 50 and 60 point games that get attention. It doesn't really matter though as long as JB doesn't let it.

Initially, Tatum's shine was because being such a young player he had advanced moves and footwork, and he was mature and polished -- it was easy to see that he would be a future star. Jaylen, on the other hand, came in raw and his handles were subpar and he didn't showcase a diverse game. Many envisioned a 3-D guy. That moniker stuck with him until last year. The media built up Tatum because he was highly touted. Jaylen will have to build up his own hype. .

I give Jaylen tons of prop. Last year, Jaylen's game exploded. His handles improved a lot, and he added small naunces to his game that really allowed him to gain separation and finish at the rim. And so far this year, his handles got even better and his game has finally caught up to his potential
I'm very amazed at his transformation.
Where he excels over Tatum is his first step and lateral quickness. He's learned how to explode into his move.
But what opened up his game and makes him lethal is his greatly improved handles.

I remember saying here that his poor handle would probably never improve much, and I couldn't have been more wrong. It really has been amazing how much better he's become.

Honestly, I doubted he could improve his handles this much also. He looks like a totally different player than who he was as a rookie. This version of Jaylen Brown star who is only 24 with more room to grow.

You know what else impressed me? Playing 46 minutes his first game back after a bout with Covid - even if it was a mild one. It speaks to how hard he's worked on his fitness, in addition to the rest of his game.
I have a special fondness for guys who come back better every year.
Regarding JT, I saw something the other day saying that we are going to see more of him in the post - something I look forward to.
