Dennis Schroder didn't get the big payday he was banking on, and now he's hoping he'll earn that money by how well he plays this upcoming season.
We're hoping he plays like his All-Star self who shines in Udoka's system, and not a selfish volume scorer.

Encouraging quote from DS yesterday: “I think Boston was just the right fit and the right mentality, how the organization works, the system, it’s a winning mentality that was just for me the right move to make,” Schröder said. “I hope that this is going to be for a long time."
So DS sees a future beyond this season with the C's. I'm intrigued to see how he, Smart and the other guards fit into the new style of play. Who will stick and who will be moved?

Also, reports of Schroder turning down a big extension from the Lakers may not he accurate. Schroder intimated that as such.
But nonetheless, a good season is sure to bring him a bigger contract. Wonder if we can afford to keep him?

I don't think we'd have his full bird rights, so we wouldn't be able to offer him much over the MLE next year.

That looks right, fresh.
Non-Bird Rights A team gets a player’s non-Bird Rights if he spends a single year with the team.
From exact financial terms, non-Bird Rights allow teams to pay players up to 120 percent of his previous salary in order to re-sign him.
That would put DS at something around $7 million. The MLE is expected to be around $10 million. In either case, if he has a good year someone will offer him more. Unless we jettison salary we won't be able to compete.

So, though he's open to staying longer than a year, we're probably looking at a one year stint.
