With the acquisition of Schroder, who has started majority of his career, and with the continued development of Pritch, not to exclude the athleticism and tenacious defense that Kris Dunn brings, Marcus Smart has to be wondering if he'll be able to land the starting gig this season.
Who do you feel will win the job?

There's a good chance that both Schroder and Smart start alongside Brown, Tatum and Robert/Al. Put the ball in Schroeder's hands and stick Smart in the left corner - where stats show he can actually shoot quite well. If he leaves the left corner, activate the shock collar he'll be required to wear.
I am still trying to figure out what the Celtics might have told Schroeder about his role. I can't believe he'd want to sign on for a role backing up Smart at PG in a contract year. Pritch has shown he can complement JB and JT by spreading the floor. He has to play too. I just don't see all three splitting PG minutes. And that doesn't even include Dunn.
So I guess I'm talking myself into DS starting at PG and Smart being the other guard.

Or Smart will be traded which will alleviate that situation.

Or Smart will be traded which will alleviate that situation. That would be my preference too, in which case Schroeder would probably start alongside Nesmith, although I could see Schroeder being most helpful coming off the bench.

In that scenario, we won't have Smart and Schroder next summer (unless we expect to pay what Schroder is looking for, which is in excess of 21 mil per year).

I'm okay with that. Better than locking ourselves into Smart for another four years.

I have zero doubt that in a year Pritchard, Yam, maybe some rookie, maybe some cheap pickup, and maaayyybbee Romeo Langford will be fully capable of getting the ball to Beal, Tatum, or Jaylen. I think Romeo showed in summer league he was a little more capable as a point guard than we thought. I'm glad they had him do that.
