Tatum and Brown are the pillars -- but the building can only stand strong when it has strong supporting columns. And I do believe we have several good pieces, albeit it young ones, who can be the supporting cast surrounding Jayson and Jaylen.
It is my estimation that these 5 will develop into and prove to be instrumental players to our team's success.
Rob Williams
Aaron Nesmith
Sam Hauser
Romeo Langford
Payton Pritchard
Both Rob and Nesmith are starting caliber players. RWill's ceiling has always been sky high, but only recently has he believed he can reach that level. Udoka's going to coach him to get there. As long as he stays healthy and the game slows down for him, Rob will be one of the most dynamic Centers in the league.
Nesmith is on his way to being a lethal 3-D player. He'll be a niche guy, but an invaluable niche guy who serves his purpose really well. Teams cannot leave him open, but will have to because of Tatum and Brown, and with Rob threatening to roll to the basket for lobs. Aaron will slide to open cracks and quickly pull the trigger when his teammates find him.
Hauser might not start due to his less than stellar defense (though he tries), but his scoring arsenal will make him a valuable weapon off the bench. Kinda like a Bojan Bogdanovic (or a Hayward-lite). I'm sold on his ability to shoot the ball. The guy is automatic, and he can drain contested shots.
No one has really seen what Romeo Langford can do yet, but the day will come when we see what a solid player he is. A heady basketball player who makes the right plays.
On the other hand, we already know what Payton Pritchard can do. As a rookie he showed how solid he is manning the Point. He can start in a pinch, but off the bench is probaby where he's best suited.
Maybe in a few years we'll add Yam Madar and Juhann Begarin to the list.
Maybe this is why Brad isn't panicking to sign big name free agents this summer. If he's confident Beal is coming next summer, and that these 5 young guys are likely to fulfill their roles, he's got a heck of a young team to give to Udoka.
