Ainge met with Utah and may be joining them as an Advisor.
I thought he was going to be in an advisory role with us, even in a part time role. If not, why not retire altogether?

I think this leads more to my theory that Danny's reputation with the players had been hurting us in free agency (fair or not) and Brad was burned out because he couldn't get any further with this roster because of a terrible bench and he had lost the locker room because of his favoritism towards Smart/Tatum. Utah will never be a free agent destination, so his reputation doesn't hurt them as much, so it makes sense.

I've heard it said a couple of times now by Ainge and the brass that Brad is an excellent judgment of talent. I wonder if Ainge's reputation among GM's (he's always looking to win trades), among free agents (Ainge shows no loyalty to players) and maybe now with judging talent has shown convinced Ainge it's time for him to move on.

Speaking about Brad being an excellent judgment of talent, how was this determined or observed? Were there draft prospects he favored (whether we drafted them or not) who have excelled in the NBA that Ainge failed to see?

I wonder if it's just a matter of giving Brad space to be his own man. He feels that he's left the Celtics in good hands, and doesn't want to be hanging around.

That was my initial feel -- like he's gift wrapped his going away present to Brad and Zarren (and Austin, if he's sticking around). Two potential superstars under 24 years, and a few young players who could solidify the rotation.
