Danny was on WEEI today and I caught most of it.
He said that the first half against the Hawks was one of our worst all season. He doesn't understand why at times the effort and defense just isn't there. Singled out Pierce, Veal, Ricky and Delonte for their good play in the second half.
He said that Veal is the only guy in all 3 games that was able to stop Harrington.
He said that Perk is our best rebounder and shot blocker and that Al is our best low post player on offense.
He addressed the Pierce article and said that Pierce was misquoted and that he has talked to Pierce and that he wants to stay in Boston and that he loves the kids and that he is a good leader.
He said that our defensive rotations are good but that the kids often get confused by something the other team throws at them and that they don't know how to adjust but that will come in time. He said that Doc did a good job by using Vets to adjust.
He discussed Ricky's defense on Stackhouse and said that Ricky was a good choice on Stack and that Ricky's defense wasn't great but it wasn't bad either and that when great offense goes up against great defense usually the offense wins.
He is concerned that some of the players let their offense dictate their defense. He thinks that Veal is tougher than a lot of our guys and that he can be a very good complement to our starters and that he isn't confident in his offense cause he hasn't played. He said we need the vets teaching our young players who get tricked alot by vets on the other teams.
He said that Blount is having a great year and that Raef has had some great games (I do hope this is just hype to build trade value and not his honest opinion). he said that Perk and Al have given the team quality minutes this year.
He is still with Green and will stay there until Monday. Green had his 3rd practice and is looking really good.
Sounded like he was really pitching Veal, questioning the team's heart and effort, and blaming youth for a lot of things.
