This headline in the Boston Globe had me saying "Wow" when I read it, not because I disagree with it (I've thought so for years) but because someone as close to the Celtics and as visible as Perk is said it. Here's the link to the article: www.boston.com/sports/boston-celtics/2021/05/12/kendrick-perkins-celtics-marcus-smart-brad-stevens?p1=hp_featurestack It's worth a read. “I think something drastic needs to happen, and it’s not firing Brad Stevens,” he said. “I think that Marcus Smart has ran his course. I think guys are tired of hearing his voice in the locker room. I think guys are tired of his ill-advised shot-taking at times, some of his turnovers that he has.” “If Marcus Smart could be just a star in his role, and that means bringing that defensive intensity, diving on the floor for loose balls, those hustle plays on the other end, not trying to do so much,” the former Celtics center said. “You can see it in people’s body language, when he tries to do too much it deflates the team.” I don't like Smart. Not his game, not his fake toughness, not his dirty play, certainly not his threats to refs. Let's move on. Bring in a guy who understands what a PGs role is.

We've been saying for years he's the "heart and soul of the team" and now we look like we have no heart or soul...so, by that logic...
A man can dream. I think that would be a good shakeup, but I also think Danny needs to stop rounding out the team with low draft picks. Can't be a championship contender and build up a roster of young guys at the same time.
I'm indifferent to Brad, but I do wonder if he's lost the team as well or if, like Perk said, losing Smart's poor decision making would really help in a system where people are expected to read the game and make smart, quick decisions.

That is the smartest thing Perk has ever said.
