Sounds like Ainge is up to something. But he’s no longer Trader Danny so we may end up not doing anything.
On another board, I hear posters clamoring for Aaron Gordon, Zach Lavine and Harrison Barnes (and Nic Vucevic to some extent).
No to Gordon. Liked him at draft time, but looking at him years later and his handles are still shaky, as is his jumper. I only liked him as an athletic PF, but he’s not being used that way. No to Lavine either. I like nothing about his game.
Vucevic I like. Harrison Barnes would be fine too (as long as he doesn’t think he’s the savior of this franchise).

Barnes would be a good fit, but i think Sacto would have to really stumble before they'd think of trading Barnes. They haven't made the playoffs in going on 15 years, and they're a half game out right now.

If Boston thinks they see something in Gordon they can unlock, then roll the dice. But I agree DM, what I see from him right now I'm not super interested in.

We need players who have matured their game, who we know can contribute consistently (I’m pretty disheartened that I was fooled by Jeff Teague). I feel Aaron Gordon still doesn’t know what he is and what he is effective at.

I'd try to go for Boogie Cousins. He might be cheap atm, since his current play is really subpar. He may never return to his old self after the injury, but there is always a chance that he will. Always thought his character problems were overblown, and stemmed from his bad situation at Sacramento. There is no other center in the league that we can even theoretically trade for, that can potentially become game-changers for us, as I find Vucevic badly overrated (he won't put up the same numbers on our team, and trading for him will likely cost us Smart at the least).

Yeah, no stone left unturned. At this point, we need a tough guy to take Mook’s place — how about a Boogie?😀

Crazy idea but trading for both Cousins and Lowry would bolster our starting 5 with proven vets.

Lowry Smart Jaylen Tatum Cousins Thst won't work because we won't be a true contender if Smart is in our top seven in our rotation. He needs to be in the Tony Allen role and nothing else. His offense holds us back if he is in any other role and Brad doesn't have the cahones to put Marcus in his place. Which is another issue as to why we can't get over the hump IMO.

Well, let’s tweak it then. To get Lowry (33 mil) we need to trade Kemba maybe in a multi-team deal. We can use the TPE on Cousins (16 mil) and have left over on JJ Redick (13 mil). Ainge said we have 19 mil of the TPE to spend during the season, but 28 mil in the offseason.
Wonder what he’ll do?

Ainge said we have 19 mil of the TPE to spend during the season, but 28 mil in the offseason. Wonder what he’ll do? I think he will wait until the off season and use the full 28M and get dramatically change the roster after the season. It will give Kemba another playoff run as a "prove it" run and when he likely doesn't hold up then it won't be perceived as badly around the league with the players as apparently his reputation with the players is still bad because of the IT trade for Kyrie. The 28M TPE and a package of Kemba/Smart with picks/players not named Pritchard should be able to get us some legit stars. One I think will be Beale with his relationship with Tatum. Then I can see him going after a legit big guy as a starter such as KAT. Then it is all about filling out the bench. This would be a 2008 scenario again, but why not? Our starting lineup would be: Pritchard Beale Tatum Brown KAT You could even put Teague as the starter if you think Pritchard as too green to be a starter, but it ditn't hurt Rondo being the young guy with KG, Paul and Ray. There would be plenty of guys who would once again come for the vet min to get a title to fill out the bench.

When will KAT start demanding a trade? He won’t be a free agent till the summer of ‘24. They are tied for last in the division with DET and really don’t have any reason not to tank this year.
Rather than waste away his early prime years, he should already have his agent pushing the Wolves to make a move.

Also, let’s be real here. We all know that Ainge is willing to trade anyone for the right price. What if Jaylen Brown is the price for Karl Anthony Towns?
KAT is a big who shoots the three very well. Shot 40% or better the last three years. He’s nearly automatic at the free throw line. Double digit rebounder and over 4 assists.
I’d like to know if Ainge is in favor of this trade?

Then in the summer see if Beal will become available. I bet Tatum and Beal have already talked about playing together.

Keith Smith says Celtics should offer a bunch of pieces for John Collins (implying he might be available). Collins might only be a rental, so ATL can’t expect teams to unload to get him.
Say we offer spare parts and some draft picks for him.
Then later trade Jaylen for KAT.
Would a frontcourt of KAT and Collins work?
And if Kemba can somehow net us Beal, how good will this team be?
