With the Jay-team providing heavy artillery from the perimeter, we need a constant impact player in the trenches — a guy who dominates the boards, gets us second chance points, and is an option in the post to change things up at times. And on defense, a guy who scares the opposition from coming into the paint.
Of course, a big man like this is on every team’s wishlist, and those who have one won’t give him away cheaply.
What Ainge should do is focus on targetting a pick in the early lottery, say between 5-10. We may have to give up one of our favorite players and draft picks to get it done, but getting a beast big man will pay off handsomely.
We need to target Day’Ron Sharpe. Think a quicker, stronger, sturdier and taller Robert Williams who has more polish offensively.

Any interest in Andre Drummond? He'd solidify our rebounding for sure and we could get him for the trade exception. On the negative side, he's a FA after this year, and is a terrible FT shooter, so we wouldn't want him in the game at the end of quarters. A little while ago I checked how he's done against Embiid and it wasn't great. Overall I'm not excited by the idea of getting him, but it would be better than letting the exception expire unused - not that time's running out just yet.

I wonder if playing for a serious playoff team will ignite excitement from Drummond to play defense?
RR, what are your thoughts on Drummond? Wonder what Kemba thinks of him?
But again, I want to emphasize my desire to draft Day’Ron Sharpe. I wonder what it’ll take to get a pick between 5 - 10?

I just looked at some mock drafts and the ones I saw had him going no higher than late first round, with most having him going in the second round. Why do you think we'd need to move up to 5-10? I should remind you that I don't watch college ball at all so I don't have a personal opinion.

Sharpe’s stock is going to rise, and once it does he’ll climb like crazy. All the physical tools are there. The high motor is there. Unless there’s a character issue that I’m missing.

I'm not seeing it with Sharpe, DM. I think he'll be a solid pro, but he's not gonna move the needle. His athleticism isn't translating to blocked shots, which is worrisome. But like I said, I think he'll do fine in the pros, but best case scenario for him is a Tristan Thompson-like trajectory IMO.

He’s coming off the bench and averaging just under 20 mpg, so that’s why his block numbers are gaudy. Plus he’s a freshmen. He’s young, but not necessarily raw. m.youtube.com/watch?v=sKZmq5OifJk
