What do you all think if we trade for Artest now after Danny had stated in the offseason that the team needs more discipline and more character guys in the locker room?
A bit hypocritical to me. That is why I do not see us getting Artest. Makes Payton look like a choir boy.

Yeah, it does go against what Ainge said, but wait, he does this all the time!! ;D
There's always the question about how the chemistry will be with Artest. I mean, I hated this guy in the past for the antics he's done. I remember him destroying a video guy's equipment in the corridor for no reason at all. He's like a brutish Dennis Rodman.
But on talent alone, I think he's an exceptionally talented player, offensively and defensively.

No doubt Derren. His talent offensively and defensively is unquestionable. It is the stuff that comes with it that is so unpredicatbe. He was always one of my favorite college players at the time at St. John's.

Has Artest played for any coach who had the ability to reach out to players and understand them? In Chicago, he played for Bill Cartwright (I believe, or maybe Tim Floyd). In Indiana, he played for Rick Carlisle.
Doc may have his coaching flaws, but he does get to the player's comfort level. He's able to make Blount relatively happy and he's able to turn Pierce's attitude around. And his biggest project is Ricky Davis, and Ricky has been a terrific citizen on the court, not nearly as brashful or arrogant as before.
Maybe, just maybe, he can work with Artest and stabilize his demeanor.

Artest is a character, that is for sure. He will impart his personality on any team we face out there. I know that for a fact.
My concern is his focus on the game of basketball and being a team player and fitting in overall. Bird gave him a second chance in Indiana after that tragic brawl in Detriot. And Artest stabbed Bird's back by whining to the media about wanting to be traded from a team I thought was good enough to challenge for an NBA championship?
Good god, that is Latrell Spreewellish of Ron Artest. And we know where Latrell Spreewell is right now (unemployed still looking for $5 million a year).
Yes, Artest is a character. Yes, Boston needs an identity and charcter. I would not pony up any more than Blount and RD for Croshere and Artest.

Artest would be a "target" for the Boston media. Payton is along the lines of Rodman, but Artest is along the lines of Vernon Maxwell.
Though, I do not see Indiana receiving equal value for him.

True. Their lockeroom is all wrapped around Artest. Perhaps the media, stirring the pot?
