There were conversations between HOU and BOS for a Harden trade, but ultimately the cost was more than Ainge was willing to spend. It’s reported by Brian Robb that it included Jaylen, Smart and multiple picks.

Given their relative ages, I wouldn't trade Jaylen straight up for Harden.

Despite only having two championships, the rockets have been one of the more successful franchises in basketball. they haven't had a truly awful season since the early 80s, and they haven't had any real sustain runs of bad basketball. They haven't had 3 losing seasons in a row since the early 70s. That's pretty remarkable.

That's amazing. It'll take a while to sort it all out, but I think HOU did pretty well in all this - especially if Olidipo comes all the way back. They weren't going anywhere this year anyway, so why not get younger and stockpile draft picks. The BKN picks likely won't be very good for the first few years, but could yield something great in later years, especially of any of BKN's Big 3 opt out.

That is interesting because after the Yao Ming era, I can’t recall the players that have carried that franchise up until the Beard came to town.

Rick Adelman coached the hell out of some teams that played way better than they looked on paper. I remember Luis Scola and Kevin Martin being the main scorers. Prolly had Shane Battier on some of those teams as well.
