In my estimation, its inevitable that Marcus Banks and a wing player (or two) will be traded away.
Orien Greene proves over and over that he has the passing ability and court vision that Banks can only dream of. And he causes havoc in the passing lanes with his long arms and quick hands. The question mark was his outside shooting, and early indications are that he can be an effective shooter with more practice.
We don't have the time to develop 3 PG's. Delonte is secured to be a big part of our future and if the decision had to be made between holding onto Banks or Orien, the scale tips in Greene's favor.
Now that Tony Allen is back (and boy did he make his presence felt in his 1st game back), everyone outside of Pierce and Ricky gets pushed down the depth chart a step (and it pushed Gerald Green right to the NBDL). This means that Justin Reed and Ryan Gomes will get even less playing time.
So if you have to decide whom to hold onto between Gomes and J-Reed, who'd it be? IMO, it'd be Gomes. He's got more all around talent and his basketball smarts is higher.

I just had a thought about our 3 PG's. If Orien can step up his game in a couple of years, to the point where he can be a sure-fire, 'no doubt' starting PG, he can Delonte can be our backcourt players, and that way, Marcus can remain on the team, and we can utilize his game breaking speed and sparkplug offensive game off the bench.
Now hear me out, this is just a homer-ish thought about our future. With a backcourt of 2 PG's, one who is a deadlier passer (Orien), and the other a deadlier shooter (Delonte), that would make it hard for defenses to pressure us and to double up on one particular PG. And throw in Gerald Green as our future SF, and we have a 6'8" freakish athletic specimen, who can drive and shoot with equal effectiveness. Add in a fearless low post scorer (Big Al Jefferson) who can put up a lot of points and rebound a lot of missed shots and we have ourselves a dangerous looking team. Now we just have to find our starting Center, a player who is better defensively than Perkins, who is also a better shot blocker and scorer.
Off the bench, we have Marcus Banks at PG, who can come in and provide pressure defense and an offensive spark. At the wings, we have Tony Allen and Ricky Davis, who are 2 of the more exciting players on the team. And off the bench at Center, we have Kendrick Perkins coming in and enforcing the paint while the starter gets some rest.
PG: Orien Greene SG: Delonte West SF: Gerald Green PF: Al Jefferson C: ?
Backups PG: Marcus Banks SG: Tony Allen SF: Ricky Davis C: Kendrick Perkins
Now, as you may have noticed, Pierce is missing from this list. Well, I think we use Pierce to secure ourselves an impact defensive Center. Maybe Greg Oden, maybe some other Center who emerges as an impact defensive player in the next few years. But whoever it is, it will probably take Pierce to secure him.

Agreed, BC. But if Tony and Ricky (sounds like a Soprano family, don't it?) are coming off the bench, Gomes won't be getting much playing time. So all in all, it may be a moot point to hold onto Gomes too.

Yeah, as sad as it would be, he does become expendable because of our future. Gerald Green and Tony Allen are very talented players and they have more basketball talent than Ricky.
But Ricky's not the only one expendable. Pierce has the most trading value, and he could net us the highest return in a trade, so he may also be in danger of being moved.

I actually don't think it's inevitable someone will be traded. Why trade for someone that will be waived or have their contract expire? The phones aren't exactly burning at the Cs office for Banks

For contrarian opinion, Banks does provide cheap insurance at PG. But we have signed up Dan Dickau (dumb signing Danny) so by the numbers game Banks could be filler in the mega-blockbuster deal.
RD is clearly on the blocks and his level of play has sadly declined. He must see the handwriting on the wall.

R Davis is a bargaining chip for sure, and I think Banks could be as well. I don't see Pierce getting trading, unless we get an all-star (and not the gangster Artest) back in return.

I agree 100% with BC. Gomes has the higher ceiling than Reed. Reed can be better defensively, while Gomes can be better all-around.
I also see Ricky maybe getting traded sometime before his contract expires, leaving PT for Gomes at the backup 3 and 4.
Ricky's contract is way too reasonable for this day and age in relation to the type of player he is and the stats he can produce.

Exactly. And what type of money will Ricky command when its time to give him a new contract? It'll be a lot more than what he's getting now. So assuming ths, Ainge is probably looking to move him while his value is at its highest so that he doesn't get caught losing Ricky for nothing in free agency.
