Without going into what your politics are - I think it's a good idea to keep us all on a friendly basis here - which makes you more nervous, the Celtics playing in the seventh game of the NBA Finals, or watching returns in a close presidential election?
Both make me nervous, but my body reacts very differently. During a tight NBA Finals game, especially if we're playing the Lakers, my hands get very clammy. On election night, my chest gets tight. At least with sports you can tell yourself it's just a game. No such luck with politics.

Games more than politics lately.
Maybe this is complicated, but politics strike me as complicated so my feelings can be up or down or more or less personal. Games are simple. There is one specific outcome, and if I don't get it the team goes down a long and mysterious road.
I guess things have gone ok for me politically lately. Maybe if I thought I was super close to a specific outcome I'd be more nervous. I have visited a to of historical and political places so perspective is easy for me. Like the many Roman civil wars and assassintions or the many invasions of countries.....I'm not worried about anything like that.
The culture wars freak me out more. Protesters burning things make me way more nervous than an election. An election is inherently peaceful even if the outcome isn't. This country has survived a lot of stuff and I have some faith our ultimate direction is a good one or at least a free one.
I can even get way way more nervous about things in my backyard like a vote on whether to build a new school.
So in summary.....my feelings on sports can be highly nervous. My feelings on elections can be complicated and optimistic.

I'm just so pessimistic when it comes to politics, that I'm hardly never ever nervous about it. Sports, meanwhile, can still make me nervous, though i have noticed it's not as bad as it used to be. i guess that's just part of getting older (though you wouldn't know it when my dad's watching the Vikings play lol).
