Sometimes I forget that Jayson Tatum is 22 yrs old, and Jaylen only made 24 a month ago. They are a few years away from entering the prime of their careers when they are playing their absolute best. Can we win a championship when our best player (Tatum) isn’t in his prime yet? I believe so. Kareem was the best player on a title team when he was 23. I think the key is to have some vets around. I think it's hard to win when almost all of your rotation guys are super young. Whoa, as much as I like Tatum, we can’t compare what a 23 year old Kareem could do to what a 23 year old Tatum can do. I mean, even Jordan at 23, averaging 37 ppg, couldn’t get over the hump. It wasn’t until he was 27 years old and Pippen was 25 that they won their first title. My point for emphasizing this is maybe our window is open now, but not wide open — and it won’t be wide open until Tatum is ready for his prime years. So in the meantime, let’s keep being competitive, adding key players, developing our young players so that when the time comes, we’ll be ready to strike. Let’s start surroundingTatum and Brown with good and reliable shooters, lob threats and off-ball scorers.

If we keep the gang together (Hayward stays and Theis is our starting 5), we need to find 3 proven veterans to stabilize the bench. A veteran big (Baynes, Galiinari, Bertans?), a veteran scoring wing (Rudy Gay?) and a veteran 3 pt shooter.
Of course, they got to be inexpensive because we don’t have much wiggle room.

I think if we believe a 28 year old Tatum can lead a championship-level team, then a 23 year old Tatum can do it as well. It's all about the supporting cast. We need to find his Oscar Robertson. I would've loved to have seen Chris Paul come to Boston for a year or two, but it just wasn't feasible.

I think we need a third banana for Tatum and Jaylen, and then a cast of rock solid role players. TOR won a title that way. Brooklyn might have their big 3, Giannis might join forces with other superstars, but let’s do it the homegrown way. If Ainge can draft a Kawhi, a Siakam, a Giannis with our 14th pick, that will go a long ways toward future contention.

I’m back and forth on this, but how I feel at this very moment is bring Hayward back for 25 mil (hopefully less than that), sign a veteran big and wing, and get ready for opening day.
We are better with Hayward (as long as he’s healthy) than we would be without him.

The way I see it is Tatum is 2 years away from being Giannis (but sometimes I think he's soft) and Jaylen is 3 years away from being 90% of Kawhi or Jimmy Butler. That's why I want these guys together. Need a third good player who stays healthy and isn't a defensive liability. We haven't had that.

We need a 3rd banana, and I think we’re accumulating our key role players through the drafts. Tatum is a bit soft, and I think Jaylen is more Jimmy Butler than Kawhi.
