This is the 3rd year for this young 21 year old rising star, and he’s averaging 21 ppg. Amazingly, I feel he should be averaging more. He’s not consistently terrific (but he is flashing his stardom more and more).
Not to put too much on such a young guy, but a lot of our championship aspirations rests upon how well and efficiently he scores. In our loss to TOR, Tatum only had 7 shot attempts, for a pedestrian 12 pts.
We need Tatum to come up big in this type of game, against top competition. When the rubber meets the road, we need him to step up big time.

JT has a ton of talent, but he has two habits that he needs to break. He still takes too many long, contested 2s, and he still disappears for long stretches too often. The second one is the one that worries me more. I love the fact that we have so many guys on our team that can explode for 30+ points on any given night, and that none of them seems to get upset if they are not The Man that day, but the lack of a clear go-to guy leads to the ball not finding the right people at times - or should I say, finding the wrong people. Tatum and Brown are the future. Nothing should be allowed to stunt their growth.

Very talented player especially at a young age. Still need to add a little more strength and finish more consistently around the room as he could be averaging more points if he can just finish more around the rim.

Jayson struggled to score last night. A big part of it was becauze of MIL’s defense (they’re long and tall, disciplined and aggressive). But Jayson was at fault too, because he looked tentative and unsure.
And herein lies the problem — it is well documented that Tatum was tasked to focus on 3s and drives to the basket, even though the midrange and long 2s were his bread and butter. Tatum is in the process of a major change, and it isn’t easy.
He has to go against what is natural to him, remember what he now has to do, and finally, try to get himself in position to succeed — and he needs to think these things on the fly as defenses are gearing to stop him.
I’d imagine it’s like a guitar player whose bottom E string broke, being told not to play open chords, then to play left handed — and oh yeah, you only have 2 hours to practice before you have to do a 3 hour set.

I'm not sure we're getting him the ball in the best spots. Too much dribbling to get off a shot a lot of the time.
I'll cut him so slack last night though because I think his knee was pretty sore.
