Two teams going in opposite directions -
The Clippers look to get back on the winning track after their surprise blowout loss at home to the undermanned Kings.
The Celtics try to salvage something on this very disappointing road trip.
We now know that all the veterans are on the block so the Celtics have to deal with that distraction. I would hate for Pierce to be given up for lesser talent but if that means more draft picks and moving Raef LaFrentz with him, then we must accept it as a committment to rebuild from scratch. Perhaps that is Danny Ainge's vision.

I won't be on to watch the game as we will be having a family New Years Eve time but will be taping the game and if anyone wants, just let me know and I can do the play by play as I watch the tape afterwards kind of like a tape delay ;D
I always feel like we are going to win every game. I know we have the ability and the talent to do it, but it is our effort and focus that usually stop us. I keep thinking that one of these days everything is going to click and the team will come together and go on a winning streak.
Wishing all my fellow Greeniacs a great New Years Eve and many Celtics wins to come in the New Year.

I won't be here either, but I'll chime in my thoughts later when I get a chance to view the box scores, and give my take on the game after I watch it tomorrow.

Incredible game. It is like a completely different team showed up tonight. They played defense, hustled, closed out the game and played like a team. I caught the last quarter live and the Clippers announcers kept saying I can't believe this team is 11 and 17. They said that we are one of the best teams they have faced this year. Unreal. I came in to watch just as Ricky was flying out of bounds and while in the air, threw the ball between his legs out to Raef. Just an incredible play. I have the Clippers feed but could just hear Tommy giving him a Tommy Point on that one!!! A great win and a great way to end the year. I sure hope this same team shows up on Monday and into the next year. Ricky's braider was back and he was back to the normal braids and had an incredible game all around. He was the player of the game according to the Clippers announcers 20 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and only 1 turnover. I saw a few plays where Ricky was diving out of bounds to save the ball, hustling all over and he even took a nasty elbow to the head and no foul call but he played on while holding his head for a bit later. Pierce had 6 turnovers but everyone else did much better taking care of the ball. Jefferson started the game but the Celts didn't pull ahead until the second quarter when Perk was in. Watching the second quarter now and Reed and Banks are doing a good job on defense as is Perk.
Well, I shall watch the rest of the game and bask in the afterglow of a good win!!! I love this team!!!

Looks like Stefanski the Stopper got my memo and a different team showed up. I went out dancing with Mrs Q tonight and had a great time. Seems like I should trade in my league pass for the country-bumkin-hootenany pass...... We would all be better off........
I got to go review the game tapes cause a coach Q does whar he has to do. Good way to ring in that New Year. I'll see if I cab to show up in Denver and give a big up yours to the Nugget and Bronco pretenders. I know we can take these bastards in football and basketball.

From this Game - It may be concluded that Al Jeff, Raef LaFrentz, Pierce, RD, and Del West is our strongest overall lineup....... We have been seeing Perkins and Blount Starting..... Tonight Jefferson started.......
Perhaps we need have Jeff start and bring in Blount and Perk off the bench........
Stay tuned for further developments.

Wow, a totally different team showed up tonight. This team really played like a winner. Shots were falling, passes were being made, guys were moving without the ball, and we played defense. It was amazing. We played nearly perfect basketball tonight.
A lot of team basketball was played tonight and there was hardly any individual scoring like most of the games we've played recently (which mostly resulted in losses).
Ricky found his shot. Its back again. The deadly accurate jumper he had in the beginning of the year has returned, and he was utilizing it a lot. And I think its a direct correlation that his turnovers were significantly lower tonight, compared to his recent games, in which he turned the ball over way too much. Because Ricky's jumper was off, he would try to beat his man off the dribble and try to find other ways to score. Because Ricky's ball handling is shaky and his decision making is not the best, he often turned the ball over. But now that his jumper is back, he was taking his jumpers with confidence. And I love how Ricky can get his man up in the air, take a quick dribble towards the basket, and stop on a dime to release a quick jumper. Its really a big time benefit to the team.
Al Jefferson showed off his post game tonight, and its a shame that they didn't go to him more than they did. He totally played under control in the post and he got off his shots against Kaman without much trouble. Wow, did he look smooth in the paint. I can't wait to see more games like this where he's not rushing his shots.
Banks continues to put pressure on the defense by using his speed to attack the rim. He may not have a lot of court vision, but when he's penetrating into the paint, he seems to be able to do some good things with his dishes. And once again, he had a scoring spurts that helped us get back on track.

Finally a game where we played decent defense. At times Banks and West were giving Cassell fits. Marcus had one nice defensive play where he cleanly stripped the ball from Sam I am.
Point guard play was solid tonight. Between Banks and West tonight they got the job done, especially West with his passing and heady plays. I think he had 5 assists. Him and Big Al seemed to work well together on the pick and roll. I would like to see more of that.
After the first quarter, Elt was shut down (I call him that because we graduated high school together). Anyway, the opposing bigs were contained and our offense was definitely clicking. High octane tonight, and as Derren said they were really sharing the basketball. No one had more than 20 points I believe but yet we blew them out by a lot because multiple players were in double figures. Hard to defend a team when that happens.
It just looked as if they trusted each other more out there tonight.
Solid effort. Good defensive effort. Keep this up C's.

I don't think we can expect 50% FG% and 50% 3pt and 75% FT every nite. That was a once in a blue moon statistical fluke.

I agree eja although we have been pretty consistent with the FG% in the last few games, hovering around 50%. It has been the defense though that has been very suspect in those games except last night's game where we seemed to come out to play D. Hopefully it stays this way.

Yeah, I don't know if we can expect to play this well. We have been shooting the ball really well the past 2 weeks, and we've been scoring in the 100's. But we still lost because we weren't scoring as a team and we weren't playing defense.
Last night was a breath of fresh air. Guys were being unselfish, and it was a thing of beauty. I have to go back and do some research, but I think we've won more than a fair share of games when Pierce wasn't scoring a lot of points. In the beginning of the year, I remember winning a few games when Pierce didn't even score 20 pts. When this happens, it usually means a lot of other players were scoring, and this means that the ball was being shared.
