Woj didn’t say we’re interested in him, but because Ainge pursued Kevin Love in the past, it’s possible Ainge inquires about him again, now that Cleveland is fielding offers for Love.
The biggest question has to be (because we could obviously use him) who’s it going to cost us? I’m almost glued to every player on this team, and it’ll be tough to part with any of our guys.

I don't see how we could possibly come up with enough salary to match up with Love's $29 million per year. We could trade Gordon, but I don't see that happening, and the only other possibility would be to trade multiple core players, and that definitely isn't happening.

Exactly the problem. No way we deal Hayward or Kemba cause you NEED them to win a championship. And it would be highly doubtful we trade either Tatum or Jaylen, as they’ve been so integral for our success this year (and will be for our future success).
Smart? I know he’s improved, and is seen as a leader, and he does so many little things to help us win. But GWill is Marcus’ mini me, and could help soften the blow (if he pans out). Future picks? I think I would sacrifice picks for a chance to contend for the next 5 years (and longer). Still would need more.
Maybe a 3rd team?

I agree, Smart is the only logical guy that we can trade and not kill our team as constructed. At 12/13M a year that means at least one if not more of the draft picks from last year with future picks. I think there would have to be a third team involved to get someone with that kind of payroll due to Smart's relatively low contract compared to Love's.

I'm not sure we'd even want Love if it means losing Smart. I'd don't think it's an upgrade considering what we'd lose. Love isn't much of a defender and can't see him being the difference for this team in going up against the Bucks or Lakers (or Philly).

I don't either, we need a rim protector and that may be able to be had on the cheap if we get lucky.

Gordon would be the one that would have to go if Celtics were serious about Kevin Love. Question is, who do you value more for this team? Personally, Hayward has a better overall game compared to Love especially on the defensive end. Its not like K. Love add any extra size or length as he's similar build as Tatum/Brown/Hayward except a little slower. And, his health issues isn't exactly appealing.

Not because of his ties with Brad Stevens, or because Ainge would feel bad trading Gordon away after his long and success road to recovery — but because he very well could be our best overall player.

I’m going to have to pass on Love. His 3pt shot, passing and rebounding would be nice here, but his lack of defense and his 90 million dollar contract (over the course of 3 seasons) and especially the players it will take to trade for him ultimately makes this a no go.
