Coming into this season, I viewed this team as one of the tops in the east, but not a true title contender. My opinion has steadily changed, and I’m almost ready to say we’d be a legit contender if we acquired a significant upgrade at the 5.
What to to, what to do?
The title is up for grabs this year. We went OT with the title favorites (Clippers), beat the eastern conference favorites (Bucks), and convincingly beat many other good teams. We are potentially a move away from lining ourselves up for the Finals this year (next year the Warriors will have a healthy Klay and Curry back, along with whichever high lottery player they draft this coming summer) — meaning the warriors might be the odds on favorites again come next year (though Brad has had lesser talented squads beat GSW).
But then again, we are one of the youngest and most inexperienced teams out there — if we wait a year or two Tatum may be an All-NBA teamer, Jaylen may solidify himself as an all-Star, and the young pups (RWill, GWill, Langford) may be wearing their big boy pants. Though Kemba and Hayward may be 2 years older, they’ll likely still be highly productive.
Should we shake things up a bit, make a trade for an upgrade at the 5, and have a legit shot at the title this season? Or should we stay the course, and hope all things go according to plan (which is also a gamble cause injuries happen, as well as young players not developing to their potential)?

This team has incredible chemistry. We would have beaten the Clippers if it wasn't for at least 3 bad calls against us down the stretch. We also didn't have Hayward who would have made a big difference also. I don't think we need a trade.
I remember back in 2011 the team was 29 and 3 and Danny decided to trade Perk. That team had incredible chemistry and I think they could have won it that year but after the trade, they never could quite get it together.
I think they can be contenders and possibly even win it all with the players they have now. Regardless, this team will only get better the rest of this year and in the future if they stay together. There is much to be said for chemistry and continuity.

That is absolutely the biggest reason why I don’t want to make a trade this year — I literally like every single player we have on the roster who is worth trading (wouldn’t break my heart if Vincent Poirier had to be shipped out).
The chemistry is great, and I’m leary of touching it.
But then I look down the road, and think if we lose in the ECF, or in the Finals because we came up just short at the 5, I’d feel like we missed our chance. This team can be special, and the title is up for grabs this season.
