Seriously. This team needs some balls. I dont know if it starts with the coach, but Im getting sick of all this talk about how we are going to play defense but never do. Pierce called out his teammates and was going to step it up defensively, called for Davis and his teammates to do the same before the game last night. We ended up giving up 116 to a depleted Sacramento team. That has to be embarassing..... Blount is the softest player Ive ever seen on the defensive end. Raef same. Pierce talks a lot. Ricky is aggressive at times but cant stay with anyone. Im not saying Im starting to question the direction this team has taken, but ultimately if this team is going to succeed there has to be a commitment to defense at some point, or we need to at least put guys on the floor that are willing to D up. Play some F'in D.

We have 2 of the softest centers in the league who continually get out rebounded by our guards. Rebounding is effort... our centers don't put out much other than Perk who Doc refuses to give enough minutes for him to develop and get better. he plays 5 minutes and gets pulled. Plays 5 or so more and gets pulled. He just can't learn or develop that way.
Ricky is capable of lock down defense but not when Doc is playing him 44 minutes a game. When he wears down from playing so many minutes, it is defense that suffers and you will see the defense in spurts but not consistent. If he knew he would play 38 minutes or less a game, he would be able to play more consistent defense.
Greene and Gomes are two players who have a lot of potential and if given regular minutes would develop pretty quickly but with 39 seconds here and 5 minutes there, it isn't going to happen. DWest is becoming a very good player but that is the result of the consistent minutes he is getting. If the other kids would see that kind of playing time I am sure we would see similar progress. Even Al is given spotty minutes and doesn't know what to expect.

What ever happened to Justin Reed? He was working well and then Doc Rivers stopped using him.

I dont know if handing Perk and Jefferson is the answer. Id like to see them play and I also think they are both better options than Raef and Blount at this point, but maybe that isnt enough. I can understand wanting to bring these guys along and discipline them for not performing to their utmost capabilities. if you look at how guys like Walker and Pierce were brought along and some of the bad habits they picked up, I think when Perk and Jefferson finally get starting minutes, they will be ready, and they will appreciate how difficult it was to get to that point and will continue to play hard and the right way because of it.
Anyhow I just want this team to put forth some effort on the defensive end and stop turning the ball over. That is what bothers me the most. Not so much the rotations(Although you are right about Ricky). These guys are playing like a bunch of overpaid statstuffing individuals right now, not a team that wants to win games. And I can't stand Blount for the last time. HE is the epitomy of this imo. I dont know how many wide open jumpers he allowed kenny thomas and miller last night just because he was too lazy to jump out on his man. You are right when you say we have 2 of the softest centers in the league right now. That is where our problem lies and unless Blount shows some effort. Raef somehow puts on 50 pounds and can miraculously move around, we are going to continue to be soft until Perk and Jefferson are ready.

This team pays a lot more attention to the offensive end, but doesn't put much effort on the defensive end. This is describing Blount to a T. But its the same with Pierce as well. He did call out his team, that everyone, including himself, needs to do a better job defensively, but he, nor they, did.
