The Celtics and Jaylen Brown have agreed to a 4 year $115 million contract extension. Good or no in your opinion? Wow, I would have waited and made him prove he’s worth that. I highly doubt Jaylen is going to coast now that he’s got his new contract, but I don’t know if he’ll live up to 29 million a year. That’s high money for a guy who’s right now the 4th best player on the team.

I wonder how much of it was the fact that so many of the players in his draft class signed extensions and the fact that there won't be a big draft class and that Jaylen would have been at the top of it and also other teams have been watching these negotiations closely. Danny didn't want to take a chance of losing him and also didn't want to pay max if he could help it.

That’s sound logic there.
I think Jaylen realizes now that he’s not an alpha dog player, but has a chance to do real serious damage as a versatile scorer who scores opprtunistically, and defends 3 positions.
Once he sees himself as this player, he can hone his game in on these areas, and I think we’ll see a massive jump in his game.

Danny must know something that fans do not. $29m/year would rank [HASH]20 in the NBA give or take. At a minimum, how many all-star teams does he make in the next 4-years?

Well, at least it eliminates the situation we had last year when TR felt pressure to put up big numbers in order to earn a big contract. JB can now do what Brad asks without worrying about how many points he's scoring. Other than that, it seems high to me for what Jaylen brings, but Danny knows Jaylen's trade value better than anyone, and having him signed for 4 more years certainly makes him more attractive to other teams if the Celtics decide to move on from him.

The narrative before Jaylen signed his new contract was that he was betting on himself that he could garner a better deal than the 4/80 that was erroneously reported.
I think Ainge is betting on himself that Jaylen will elevate his game to a higher level and make himself more attractive to potential suitors — for instance if Minnesota realizes they’re not keeping KAT, and Danny has his eyes set on KAT, if Jaylen is performing like a borderline All-Star, like the Kris Middleton last year, then Danny won’t have to include to much more in a trade package than Jaylen and a few more lesser pieces.

Yep, KAT makes 27.285 so that could be a one for one swap with picks heading both ways. But it would make more sense for them to try to get rid of Wiggins and keep KAT and pair him with Jaylen, but I am all for getting KAT if Minny is so inclined.
