This is always the hardest, longest part of the basketball year for me, and I suspect most of you, so I was happy to read that up to 6 of our guys will be playing in the FIBA World Cup in August(camp) and September (the actual tournament in Shanghai). Kemba, Marcus, Jaylen, Jayson will be in the Team USA camp. 20 players will be competing for 12 spots. In addition, Theis will be playing for Germany, and Poirier for France. This will be a welcome chance to see our guys back in action! www.boston.com/sports/boston-celtics/2019/07/26/brad-stevens-celtics-team-usa

You can add Taco Fall also. He is playing for Senegal. I wonder if he'll be the best player for Senegal. I'm gonna look at their squad right now if I can.......nope. Not even close to the best Senegalese player. They all have pro experience somewhere and many of them played at US colleges

I always thought the World Cup was just a soccer tournament. Anyway, the U.S. has a lot of very good, and young players. Also, I think Corangelo needs to implement a rule, like no world championship, then no Olympics.

Tacko was cut from the Senegalese team. Smart is out for US team with calf tightness and soreness. I agree that if a player can't play in the World championship then they shouldn't play in the Olympics.

Correction: Fall was not cut from the Senegal roster. He was grateful to be named to the team, but was always planning on returning to the US this week to spend the rest of the offseason working to make the Celtics roster. Fall and Senegal mutually agreed he would not play in this edition of the World Cup, because Fall wanted to focus on his bid to make the Boston Celtics.

Watched a report yesterday that the two guys who are looking the best are Mitchell and Tatum. That is good news as they should be the two best players on that team. I hope this is the start of a great bounce back season for Tatum.

Hoping Jaylen has a better performance than his last scrimmage. Both Kemba/Tatum look great and definitely seem like they were a step above most of the members of team USA.

I think Team White would have fared better if Fox was not promoted to the Senior team. Walker, and Tatum were solid. Brown fared a lot better on defense than offense. His handles are still shaky.

Jayson and Kemba both looked good against Spain again. Jaylen looked much better than he had in the blue/white scrimmage. Jayson made a couple of really nice passes inside and both he and Jaylen have been attacking the basket a lot stronger than they did all of last season. I see some maturing in both of their games. Good news that Marcus has been cleared to play again. Before the injury, Steve Kerr said that he was one of the best players in camp. They are taking 13 players to Australia (was going to be 14 before Fox withdrew to concentrate on the Kings season. They have to cut one more player before Aug. 31. Not sure who that will be. It may sort itself out over the next couple of exhibition games. Next game will be on Thursday night at 8 pm ET against Australia. It will be on NBA TV. Our guys vs Baines and the Aussies.
Also keep an eye on Vincent Poirier on France's team. Vincent Poirier.. 16 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists in their win over Brazil.

Nice to see that all of our guys made it to the final 13 for Team USA.
And thanks for posting that the next game is on NBA TV. I would have missed it otherwise.

I watched the highlights of U.S./Spain today. I really like Walker, because he is good and not a diva. The U.S. had too much athleticism. It really was not a close game, except Spain hit a lot of Curry type 3's at the end, coupled with some Gasol 3's.

I watched the highlights today from USA/CAN. Brown had a nice game, where he got a few circus shots to fall, which kept up his confidence shooting. Tatum does not look right, and I thought I saw him wear a knee brace. I enjoy watching Smart on defense, especially versus players that have not seen him before.

Unfortunately, the games have been on ESPN+, which I don't get. Maybe I'll sign up for the free trial and then cancel. Anybody been watching?
