I’ll make an extremely early starting 5 prediction:
Kemba Hayward Tatum GWill Kanter
Grant Williams will earn the starting gig because he does so many things right, is so tough, is such a leader, such a positive teammate, and productive. He’ll help Kanter look better on defense, he’ll help keep the ball moving, he’ll space the floor with his improving 3pt shot, and he’ll get to the free throw line.
This move will allow Jaylen to come off the bench and with Smart, be the leaders of the second unit.
But looking closer at the starting 5, we will have an organic offensive team. We’ll score from all 3 levels, led by Hayward, Kemba and Tatum. Kanter will give us low post scoring and easy points off putbacks. Grant will give us complementary scoring and will surprise us with his veteran-like savvy.
It will be an unselfish and efficient offense we’ll showcase. But we can also go iso ball if need be.

Where's Tacko?
In all seriousness - I would not be shocked if Grant gets a starting nod. It might be similar to last year where you might see some experimentation with Brown or Smart going in and out of the starting lineup still.

In the beginning of season, I could see Brad Stevens having a starting lineup below:
Kemba Brown Hayward Tatum Kanter
I would suspect Center position could change based on lineup and/or defensive specialty. You're lineup seem plausible especially if Brown/Hayward/tatum lineup doesn't workout but, I could see RW3 taking over as a starter if he can step up to the plate as a defensive anchor. Here is what I could see at the end of the year:
Kemba Brown Tatum GWill/Hayward RW3

I just think starting Grant at the 4 makes too much sense:
1) keeps Tatum or Hayward away from potential injury by playing them against bigger, stronger guys 2) Grant’s basketball smarts will be a big help 3) he’ll mask some of Kanter’s defensive deficiencies

i think it'll be
kemba brown hayward tatum theis
i think this works well against better, quicker starting talents. kanter will be a good weapon off the bench, and he wont get as abused in the pick n roll against 2nd string players.
if williams proves his worth i could see him starting with hayward coming off the bench.

I think what we lose on the glass we make up for it in D. Kanter is a butcher on D. we need to hide him as best we can. also, the night hayward blew out his ankle, we started Kyrie, Jaylen, Gordo, tatum, and Al. CBS wants to run and spread the court.

Yeah, there’s that possibility too. I just worry about an injury waiting to happen. If I have to go against guys who outweigh me 15 - 30 lbs, over the course of a season I’d start to feel the pain at some point.

Another reason for placing Jaylen with the 2nd unit is because we don’t have a productive wing player off the bench. Unless we’re thinking of Semi, who has yet to blossom, or Langford, who’s still working on correcting his shooting form.

Yes, I think Jaylen just makes sense off the bench and he's smart enough to understand it doesn't matter if he "starts" or not.
I'm rooting for Langford and I think he has room to shine, but I'm almost done with Semi. He has the body, the work ethic, and the D...but I've never seen someone look so hesitant and lost on offense on what to do. Even with open shots he looks scared to shoot. I thought his comfort on offense would come with time, but I'm not sure how long I'd give him before realizing maybe his offense (IQ?) isn't good enough for the NBA.
