Kemba is as good as ours. So who’s next?
Seems Capela is out of the picture. Word is we are interested in Enes Kanter and Kevon Looney.
I get the feeling that Danny has something bigger up his sleeve. Maybe he can’t acquire his prize this offseason, but I have my suspicion that Karl Anthony Towns is his next target.

Yea I think his options are limited this offseason now with the Kemba signing. Unless he wants to offload GH or Brown, I don't think Houston is interested in a Capela trade with us if it just means Smart. I think just filling out the roster with what we can is our best option at this point

Houston can't take any players in a trade for Capela because they need the room for their coveted sign and trade for Butler. So all they want is draft picks or if a player is sent, that player will either end up in Philly or another team that covets whoever we give up for more draft picks. Houston has said that they already have a trade agreed to for Capela, just hasn't named the team and won't execute the trade unless Butler agrees to go there.

We need bigs in the worst way. I can’t fathom using Hayward, Tatum or Jaylen at the 4 for any extended period of time (that’s just putting their bodies at risk of injury). And unless we’re thinking of using RWill and Theis (or an unproven rookie GWill), we are really exposed and thin on experience at the 4 and 5.
I wouldn’t mind Kanter on a short deal with the MLE, promising him he’ll start and get lots of minutes (if he earns them of course). What he showed at Portland last year was he can play for a defensive oriented team and not stick out like a sore thumb. He’s a good rebounder and offensive player. And I see him as a whole lot better than Nenad Kristic and Tyler Zeller.

Employee [HASH]8 returns to BOS. Walker, a veteran all-star. Even does the "shimy" after miss baskets. Danny strikes back!

The things I like most about Kemba Walker (assuming he indeed signs with us):
Over the last 4 seasons, games played = 81, 79, 80, 82. Also his last 4 seasons have been his 4 best seasons in FG%, 3pt% and FT%
He is aging well, is still only 29, and is now joining a coach under whom Jordan Crawford, Evan Turner, Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder and Kyrie Irving have all had their most efficient seasons. I think he will be a good fit.
As stated, we now need to bolster the front court. As a Bruin, I would love to get Looney - would give us defense with youth and athleticism, plus rebounding. But I suspect he will be offered more than the 4.8 million exception by other teams.
Maybe a Capella trade may happen after all, if Houston misses out on Butler. Then Houston may not be looking to dump his salary and might be convinced to trade a defensive big man for a defensive guard (Smart) who would help them match up with the Splash brothers. Smart + Yabouselle would work salary wise for Capella. Probably would have to add a pick, but IMO would be worth it (though I would not give the Memphis pick).

As an unbiased spectator (unlike Mev the UCLA fan😁), I’m not too keen on Kevon Looney. I remember being against drafting him years ago. I wouldn’t mind him as the second big off the bench (mostly at the 4), but would not want him as a starter.
Mev, spot on with the Kemba poised to have his most efficient seasons now that he’ll be playing for Brad.

Hey, at least this biased UCLA fan can take solace that we didn't draft that guy from USC, and instead went for Romeo Langford and G Williams.

He's a self professed James Harden fan, and for that alone I'm cautious of him. You know, as for UCLA players, I have some interest in Kris Wilkes. Just waiting for him to break out.

Looking at the Warriors in their 3 championship seasons, they didn’t need All-Star caliber Centers — just solid ones. Bogut, McGee, Pachulia, those types. Now of course they had the luxury of having Curry-Thompson-Draymond (and then Durant), and that’s why they could get away with it, just as Jordan-Pippen could get away with Cartwright and Wennington manning the 5 in their championship runs.
But the point is, if our strategy is to run everything through Hayward-Tatum-Kemba (and maybe Jaylen), we might be able to get away from relying so much on a big facilitating the offense like Horford did for us.
Maybe guys I don’t think highly of, such as Robin Lopez and Noah Vonleh will be just enough of a warm body to make it work?

Would be interesting if Ainge can pull off the rumored three way sign and trade with Brooklyn and Charlotte. Would give us the $9+ million dollar MLE which would increase our options for acquiring a good big man.
Also, with Butler going to Miami, maybe Houston pivots and is willing to trade Capella for players rather than picks. Or maybe we get Looney after all :-)

Somebody please sell me on Kevon Looney. I was unimpressed with him at UCLA, and was unimpressed with him with the Warriors. He's a 6'9" Forward with a super long wingspan -- but he's methodical, a plodder, doesn't appear so coordinated, etc.. Even watching his highlights, I'm just not blown away.

I feel the same about him as I see him more of a product of this environment where benefit alot being around curry/thompson/green/durant. Sound like Celtics only have part of the MLE ~4.8 million so there isn't a lot of options out there for them and Looney wouldn't be an option. It could be a year of development at that spot with RW3 and possibly taking a chance on Tacko Fall to see if they could be suitable big-man rotation on this team.
