The douche bag signed a 4 year 109M deal with the 76ers. Philly lost both Butler (Miami) and Riddick (New Orleans) and they also overpaid Harris 5 years and 180M. I see them as a lot weaker than they were last year. The best part is now he is stealing money form Philly instead of us and will keep them from signing people who can actually help them improve like shooters since nobody on that team can shoot right now.

That was a bit of a shock. I'm glad Philly is stuck giving Horford 25+ million until he's 37 years old rather than us. I'm not sure if they're better or worse than last year, but I figured they would have to lose either Harris or Butler. I still think all their success comes down to if Simmons can ever hit an outside shot. If he can't, I don't ever see them winning it all.

Yeah, it’ll probably come back to bite them later, but for now this move to get Horford may pay dividends. Al was our Embiid stopper — now that we don’t have Horford or Baynes, we don’t have anyone to slow Embiid down. Plus with Horford, Philly’s two man game with Al and Joel is going to be mighty hard to contain.
Darn it! I was hoping Al would go to the Clippers with Kawhi to beat the Lakers.

His contract is actually 4 years 97M with 12M tied to winning championships so he won't see that money. So he is getting just over 24M a year.

Horford shot 41% in the playoffs last year. Good luck with that.

I honestly think losing Riddick and especially Butler and gaining Richardson and Horford is a net loss for Philadelphia. Neither player they are gaining is as high impact a player as Butler, and Riddick was their best shooter, which was already an area of weakness.

Maybe one day we'll hear the truth of why Horford decided to sign elsewhere, but I read there were reasons for his leaving Boston.
Time to move on. He's a super nice guy, but we needed more from him for what he was getting paid from us.

That's an overpay for Horford for sure. It's the kind of money spent by a team needing the proverbial "one more guy" to get them over the top. But I agree with mev that Philly has taken a step backwards this summer.

A lot of money for a player going to be 37 years old at the end of that contract. I do expect there would be some significant defensive improvement at least in the paint area but, are they expecting Horford/Harris/Richardson to carry the perimeter scoring for that team? I'm sure they'll be some vet min shooters they'll be able to add throughout the off-season but, I wouldn't bet on them to reach finals especially losing Butler/Reddick plus, injury concerns from their starting front-line as both of their players will require significant amount rest throughout the season.

Sounds like Al was always going to go to Philly and didn't give us a second look after posturing to resign him with the sign and trade for Kemba. This is from a tweet that I just read:
I don't get the media hype for Philly now, all of the talking heads are in agreement that they are the favorites in the East next year and I don't see it. JJ and Jimmy >>>>>>> Josh and Al.

Who is going to shoot the ball down the stretch for the Sixers? Last year it was Butler. I think they'll be a good defensive team that struggles to score against anyone who prevents fast break buckets.

That would have been my guess. I think it wears on Al when he has to deal with bigger, heavier players, and with Baynes gone it was looking like he was going to have to play a lot of center.
