Danny Ainge had his post draft interview last night. He talked highly of the young men he drafted — not only about their talent and skills, but he also emphasized their character. Here’s a snipit:
"Good people. Actually all four of [the picks].” said Ainge. "Very good guys. That played a very big part into why we selected them. Who they are, not just what they are capable of doing on the court. Very excited about their personalities and their character and I think they have the will to become great.”
Now, I’m sure this is what all GMs say about the kids they draft. But in light of our disatrous season, and exodus of some of our players who are sour apples (Kyrie, Rozier), and the way Ainge matter of factly made this statement in the context of his interview, I felt it was a clear reference to the mess we were in because of questionable character. And we’re going to avoid this mess again, as best as we can, by bringing good character players. High quality human beings (which is one of the reasons why we picked up Grant Williams).

That has got to be the only time I have heard a GM discuss a guy's personality. It's definitely an FU to a couple guys.

I don't know if it was a shot or not, but what stood out to me were the words " I think they have the will to become great". Some guys (a very few) come into the league "great", but most have to make themselves so. You'd think everyone would want to become as good as they could be, but no, many are content to collect a very nice paycheck and coast. You have to have a certain level of physical ability but among those who do, it's the ones who put in the work who become great. It also helps if you're willing to listen to your coaches. And yes, that was a shot,

Screw Political Correctness. (I know you were joking)
That tool bag said that he doesn't owe anyone (censored). That goes both ways Cryire and it proves that his is the next CP3 because no matter where he goes, he has problems and fails to take responsibility for those issues, always says it is everyone else's fault.

I enjoy listening to Danny, and Wyc talk to the media. Insightful. Listening to Kyrie was a train wreck.

I have heard both Red and Tommy Heinsohn talk about looking at character as a measuring stick for players. I definitely think Danny is taking a shot at Kyrie especially in that statement. I've heard he was interested in bringing Rozier back and if so, I don't see that being a shot at him. But, if he cuts Rozier loose, then it may have been aimed at both of them.

I don’t even know if I want Rozier back. Not only because of his inefficiency, but also because we know now that he’s more about individual accolades more than what’s best for the team.

Danny Ainge with some maybe not so hidden shots at Kyrie and Rozier at today’s rookie post press conference.
He mentioned how much better it is to work with with good guys, humble guys, guys who do what’s asked of them.
Purge out the sour grapes, and let’s get back to playing good ol basketball without the drama 👍

Wyc clearer mentioned that every player would be evaluated, stay or go. I am speculating, there was more than one player to go.
