Everyone, please give a warm Celtics welcome to our 22nd pick, Kenmore Refrigerator, Model No. 73025, aka Grant Williams.
For those who love exciting athleticism, high flying between the leg dunks, flashy ball handling and ankle breaking cross overs, then Grant Williams is not the prospect for you. But if you are the type who likes to watch big men fight in the paint, use their bulk to stand their ground, and use their powerful low center of gravity to carve out space, then you'll enjoy our newest big man.
Question about his ability to translate his offensive game to the NBA lingers (with me, anyways). But if anything, he could be the type of guy who gets fouled a lot, and contributes his points via the free throw line.
All in all, he could be a shorter version of Aron Baynes.
It's a long shot to happen, but if both Robert and Grant develop into starters, we'll have the Williams owning the paint.

We'll have to see him play. Shorter big guys have succeeded in the past, going back to Wes Unseld.

“He’s a guy that I kind of look at as a guy with a point guard’s mind,” added Stevens. “You can run offense through him at the elbows, on the block, [and] at the top of the key. He just thinks the game. He’s a tough, tough guy, and he’s a versatile player who can shoot the ball.”
Who knows what the final roster will look like, but it appears we will have multiple way of initiating the offense, and the ball should really move.
I also read that Williams grew up a Celtics fan as his grandfather is a huge C's fan.

He debunked Kyrie's flat earth nonsense so he seems like a pretty cool guy to me. I love watching the reactions when they get drafted and his family reaction was really positive:

He's only 6'6 but has a 6'11 wingspan. Elton Brand, as I recall, was 6'8 with a big wingspan and he was pretty good, so we'll have to see how well he can play vs big men.

He's the type of player I love. I think he will be able to contribute this season. He's got a team first mentality -kind of like the anti-Kyrie - and has a very high BB IQ according to reports. I can't wait to watch him play.
