I like this guy. People are down on this guy, but he's got big talent as a scorer, offensive initiator and defender. Dropping some baby fat weight will help him add some quickness. But think about this -- if Romeo went back for his sophomore year and showed off his good shooting with a good right thumb (which was hurt for most of the year), he would have gone top 5.
I certainly like him more than RJ Barrett, Cam Reddish and Rui Hachimura, all who went way before him.

Looking at some video, I think we're going to like watching him. To my eye he has a better feel for how to create shots than Jaylen has after 3 years as a pro. Might even be able to run the offense a la Hayward. 6'6" with a 6'11" wingspan gives him the potential to be a defensive star, with the ability to guard multiple positions. Can't wait to see him in action.

Yes, he can run the offense, a la Hayward. Now we have 3 wing players we can give the ball to and ask to start the offense.

It seems that teams didn't factor in his injury and just looked at his shooting percentage from 3. We might have gotten lucky here.
So, who is it going to be at [HASH]20 and [HASH]22? Will we even keep the picks? I'd kind of like Danny to trade them for 2021 first rounders. But if he doesn't, take a shot at a PG or a big. We're stocked with wings.

I see you (DERREN) had Romeo at [HASH]6 a week ago, so you were onto him early. I hope you're right!

Yeah, it's funny how people forget that young players can improve -- especially those who show they have the tools to shoot the ball. His shot isn't broken, and he'll probably only need to have a healthy thumb and better ball placement (don't bring it back too far beyond his face) to see his shooting % jump to healthy levels.

I read on a thread (celticsblog maybe) that a poster thought Alfa Romeo would be the selection @14. The rational was that Danny evaluates highly ranked high school players, and does not weigh a less than expected college season. Recent examples - Brown, Tatum.

The rational was that Danny evaluates highly ranked high school players, and does not weigh a less than expected college season. Recent examples - Brown, Tatum. There's some logic in that. For sure Danny watches these kids from the time they're in high school and already has an opinion of them. But they may go to a school where the coach fails to develop them, or even stunts their growth by making them play a style that's not suited for them. So they lose the luster and drop below the radar. So I can see Danny using data from high school and bypassing what he saw in college, if he feels the kids wasn't in an ideal situation. But that doesn't work for all kids who underperform in college. Take for instance Cam Redish. I think many GM's may have had a lower opinion of Redish even from his high school days. And so what he did in college wasn't such a surprise.

As for Romeo, watch game film. He takes Curry long 3-pointers and can not hit the side of a barn. In high school, he was taller than most players. Lacks the side to side step to separate his man.

I see a young kid who has the ability to get to the rim and has the feel for finishing. I see a kid who is executing pro level moves and looks very smooth doing it (watch how comfortable he is back dribbling and smoothly getting into his fadeaway jumper).

The few highlights I have seen, I see a player that has AAU written all over him. I like that he has height, and his mechanics are good. I expect Coach Stevens to improve him.

I don't know why, but I have a very good feeling about this kid. No rational reason what so ever, I just feel like he is going to end up a good one.

There's no doubting his toughness and heart. Playing most of the season with a torn ligament in his thumb shows that. I have no doubt that Danny put character, heart and grit as top qualities in this draft. And, that's a good thing after last season.
