Yes we are, and Al just needs to be at 20M or less for us to get both exemptions that I mentioned in my last post.

Al officially opted out of his contract to get a 3 year deal with Boston at a lower price that will give us the full midlevel 9.3M and 3.6M bi-annual in FA. We get that even if we resign Rozier. The next names that are being rumored are Beal and Conley. Washington wants to include the terrible Wall trade with Beale, but a package of Brown, Smart and draft picks has apparently been offered. It is looking like Danny is trying to trade one of Tatum or Brown to make room for Gordon. IDK how I feel about that one yet. Didn’t hear that one. So Danny is trying to open up minutes for Gordon by trading Tatum or Brown?

Beal is a genuine star. Brown might be some day. Smart will never be. I see this as an upgrade, not a room-making move.

There is also a Tatum deal on the table for Beal too. I forgot to add that part which is where I got the make room for Gordon move.

I'd find that one more confusing, because then you'd have Beal, GH and JB, and I don't see any of those guys playing up front as a small PF. Tatum I could see more easily in that role.

He’s been handling more of the facilitator duties the past 2 years and he’s shown significant improvement. He’s not only an upgrade as a shooter / scorer over Jaylen and Smart, but also as a ball handler and offensive initiator. With Tatum and Hayward (and Horford), we’ll have an additional guy we can run the offense through.

Washington is not going to hire a GM anytime soon, so if we are going to pursue Beal, we’re going to have to wait.

Does anyone know what the salary cap situation would look like with Horford re-upping on a new deal (rumor)? Will there be enough cap room to add a veteran PG body like Ricky Rubio or Patrick Beverley? Hoping there are some better options than Rozier/Smart backcourt as your only option as the shooting from that position isn't up to par with the sub 40% shooting percentage.

Yes, as long as Horford sings at 20M or less we will have the full MLE and Bi Annual exemptions.

Woj reported that Horford and management are not close in negotiations.
I’m feeling that something will be worked out, but there’s a possibilty that Horford leaves.

Now the rumor is that Al is going to leave for a 4 year deal elsewhere. I guess it is on to plan D or F now? www.celticsblog.com/2019/6/18/18684419/rumor-al-horford-now-expected-to-leave-boston-celtics-tooMajor change in the Al Horford situation: Per source close to Horford, his side is no longer discussing a new 3-year deal to stay with the Celtics. He is expected to sign a 4-year free agent contract elsewhere... Story to come. Celtics could now pivot to being a cap space team, with reports that Kyrie Irving and Al Horford will leave Boston. If Boston clears the decks of all free agents, they’ll have nearly $28M in cap space. That number could rise if they trade or stash a draft pick.

If he leaves, we’re in for a youth movement (and I’m not feeling too bad about it).
Draft Goga Bitadze to be our Center, Ty Jerome to be our PG, and add them to Hayward, Tatum and Jaylen. We may not win more than 45 games, but we’ll be building up team chemistry to become a 48 win team, then 55, and then 60!! By then Jaylen will be 25, and Tatum 24– how crazy is that?

Per Adam Himmelsbach, the Celtics have known for a few days now that Horford’s camp has been talking to a few teams who are interested in him, and where Horford has interest in going.
The way I see it, once Kyrie’s situation was clear (that he’s not re-signing), and once AD was traded to LA, the writing was on the wall for Horford to see that we are not contending this year (and maybe the next few years). Al is already in his 30’s and is still without a ring.

It doesn't look like Al will be coming back as it sounds like there are three teams who are willing to offer him 20M a year for 4 years. Those teams are the Mavs, Clippers, and Fakers. If he has to leave I hope he goes to the Clippers and helps them beat the !!!GREENIAC!!! out of the Fakers.
