I totally agree with a lot of what Derren and BC are saying. I have NO IDEA what Doc is doing with the substitution patterns. It breaks people's rhythms. They need to go to Al more, yes Derren. This kind of erratic subbing and minimal PT even gives me more of an indication that either Blunt or Raef will be shipped out, not solely on poor play, but rather so Ainge can force Doc to play the kids more.
I do not think that Doc has gotten the memo that WE ARE NOT WINNING WITH THE VETS. I could understand if we were 15-11, but we are 11-15!!!
One positive note that I noticed anyway from this game was the improved play of Delonte. I only watched the first half, but it looked as if he was looking more to get other people easier shots, and he was successful. He had a few dribble drives where he kicked it out to open teammates for the jumper. He needs to keep doing this on a consistent basis.
He finished with a good game. 12 points, 7 boards, 5 assists. It is ashame that he actually led the team in rebounds, only because DOC DIDNT PLAY PERK!

We routinely get outrebounded because our best rebounders are sitting on the bench. Plus Perkins in 19 minutes had as many blocks (3) as the entire Seattle team combined. If Blount is allowed to play enough to foul out, why hamstring the young players when they pick up one or two fouls? If, as he said during the recent radio interview, is going to play the veterans in "crunch time" anyway, why be concerned about the young players fouling out? Just let them play!

Exactly mev. I think a lot of people on this board have a problem with the way Doc has been handling the young kids as of late. It gets frustrating when I am sitting at home and Perk or Al dominates a quarter and then practically sits out the next 2 quarters completely breaking their rhythm and at the same time letting the opposing team gain an advantage and get back into the game.
Personally I like Doc as a coach. I think he is a pretty good motivator most of the time (except with Banks when he constantly yells at him). I think he is a pretty good teacher, and he has a good idea what he wants us to do as a team. The only problem I have with him is that when he does not have a consistent rotation, and erratically subs players at the most inopportune times, it prevents the team from doing what it is that he wants us to do which is find a rhythm that can help the players play efficient offense and tenacious defense.
I am not calling for his resignation yet by any means, but I think Danny needs to either talk to him, and tell him to fix his rotation/substitution/minutes allotted OR make a few trades to force Doc to play at least the young bigs (mostly Al and Perk). Greene has time to grow in his rook year with Delonte starting and looking comfortable right now.

As easy as it may sound, maybe all Doc needs is better assistant coaches. I dont' think the assistants he has surrounding him are that good, or experienced. I mean, Popovic has PJ Carlesimo, who was a head coach at one time for the Warriors. That counts a lot more than having assistants who haven't really coached an upper level team before. Doc needs to get solid game decision advices from his assistants, and I don't think he's getting it from Tony Brown and the rest of them.
As for Delonte, he is playing a lot looser now and is not trying to be perfect on every single play--and this has allowed him to get into better grooves and into the flow of the game. His next step is to be prepared to take more shots. He's still holding back the trigger on a lot of plays where he comes off of screens and has the opening to take a jumper. We'll see a new dimension once Delonte sorts out this part of his game.

We have had our 1st Ricky Pierce reference already as well!! Ricky Pierce played for the Sonics back in the 90's. I believe he also played for the Bucks and came to the Sonics with Vin Baker that sent Shawn Kemp to Cleveland. Impressive play by play typing by flceltsfan12.

We'll see a new dimension once Delonte sorts out this part of his game. I like D-Wests game right now. Pierce has been stellar, too, but he fizzled out down the stretch last night. As for the numbskull coaching staff running Raef for 27 minutes as a backup FC to Perkins 19 (The other 2 minutes were given to Scalabrine of all people)...... Let me share with you my findings from the game center tape. In the 19 minutes Perkins played, the Celtics outscored the Sonics 51-44. Perkins was taken out at 7:03 of the third qtr at 69-69. With Raef LaFrentz and Mark Blount stinking up the joint, the Sonics took control of the game and stretched the lead to 86-73. Believe it or not the Celtics stabilized when Marcus Banks, Al Jefferson, and Ryan Gomes came in for DWest, RD, and Blonut. These three contributed to a 17-8 Boston run that got them back in the game down 4 with 10:18 left and a Seattle timeout.[B} This would have been a perfect opportunity to bring Kendrick Perkins back in the game to play with Jefferson, Reed, Gomes, and Banks. In fact, this is our best Defense and fast break lineup. Pierce needed a rest at this point as he missed 3 FT's and 4 FGA down the stretch. [/B] The missed adjustment of Perkins for Pierce probably cost the Celtics their opportunity to win the game and get this West Coast trip off to a good start. Bottom line, If Coach Q is sitting on the Boston Celtics bench wearing his green suit, white shirt and green tie, he would have gone to Perkins and Jefferson at the critical stretch at the 10 to 8 minute mark of the 4th qtr.

Celts inbound and PP misses a 3. Sonics rebound. sonics dribble out the clock. Very disappointing loss!!! I agree that it was a very disappointing loss. Seattle is nothing special. Blount and Raef LaFrentz flat out can't get it done with defense and rebounding. I have been saying play the kids and your inside trench work improves. Jefferson and Perkins are better than Raef and Blonut and their time is now. Unfortunately, Doc sees things his way and maybe trying to protect the boss' investments in Blonut (40 million dollar resigning and Raef (traded for Walker with about 42 million left on his bloated contract). Raef is reminding me more of Eric Chenowith every day (Slow and cannot jump).

Great analysis Quinielabox. It gets so frustrating seeing that the team plays better with Perk in and then seeing him sitting on the bench while the other team abuses us on the boards. Then Doc whines about getting out rebounded. Very, very frustrating. I remember Ricky Pierce on the Bucks. Just about every broadcasting team for the opposition calls Ricky or PP Ricky Pierce at least once or twice a game. Some do it thoughout.
