D2 player, Flip Murray having a career game. Typical game, we are down because we can't rebound.

Wow, what a disappointing loss. We had a good sized lead, we gave up a hefty sized lead, we came all the way back to be down just 1 (courtesy of Delonte's 2 consecutive three pointers), but we lose it at the end because we didn't play smart basketball.
We looked good in the first half, but lost our composure (and our lead) in the 3rd and played catch up for most of the 4th. We could have won the game, had we had some defensive stops--but that's just too much to ask from this team.
Big game from Pierce. He earned every point tonight. Without him, we lose by 20. I also give Blount a good grade. Sure his scoring was nice, but he was actually hustling on defense after switches and that makes me appreciate his effort tonight.
Banks had a nice offensive spurt in the 3rd that was a big reason why we were able to make a comeback after being down by 11. Gave us a spark with his offense and had 2 three point plays that totally had the Seattle crowd frustrated. He had a nice rhythm at the line which helped his cause. But he made 2 big mistakes in the closing seconds of the game when we were down by 1, with a chance to take the lead. The first one was his forced shot, where he seemed to have lost all senses of what a team game is supposed to be. He came down the court, didn't wait for the offense to set up, did a spin move which got him nowhere, and went right at the basket. We lost that critical possession. But the second mistake was even costlier. On defense, Rashard Lewis had Pierce in the post and was backing down. Flip Murray (who had a huge offensive night) cut across the lane and went to the opposite side of the court. Banks finds himself lost between helping Pierce out or staying with Murray--and so he ends up being in the middle of the play, totally useless. Lewis sees it and quickly swings the ball over to Murray. Now Scalabrine, who was covering Nick Collison has to make a quick dash over to Murray (again, Murray had a big offensive night) and Flip cooly flicks the ball over to Collison. Scala does his best to attempt to go back to Collison, but too late.
That was the dagger and it sealed our chance of a comeback.
What I find frustrating is how the team continues to stay away from Jefferson in the post. This guy is one of the best offensive players we have, but yet we hardly go to him where he's the most effective. Its encouraging that the Sonics were doubling him in the post as soon as he received the pass--shows that they are aware that he can hurt them.
Overall, we could have won, but the stats say it all. We were outrebounded, 31 - 49, and we gave up an astonishing 20 offensive rebounds. A big reason was Danny Fortson. I look at him and see what Perkins is missing. Fortson is a brute who not only has the mass to push people around, but also the mobility and quickness to be a force. Perkins, while having the mass and strength, just isn't mobile enough to really make a big impact. And I see what's missing.

i don't even get angry anymore about doc. it's just hopeless. i don't know what it takes for him to play perk and al more, i just don't know. is it so much sweeter to lose with blonut in the game? i would live with the losses if the youngsters played but unfortunately they don't...

Nope, they don't. If this year is supposed to be a developmental year for a lot of the youngters, it ain't happening yet.

usually i'm not negative but i may soon hop on the "fire doc" bandwagon. last year i forgave him a lot of mistakes making myself believe that it was his first year etc. this year his stubbornness flat out annoys me. fortson pushed our guys around andd he didn't give minutes to perk? c'mon doc. fouls cannot be an issue since mr butterfinger fouled out, didn't he

Its quite possible that Doc uses the second half to develop the kids. Maybe the first half of the season is being used to see how good we really are and to see if we are capable of making the playoffs.
I ain't ready to make a 'fire Doc' sign. But I won't keep backing him up forever, either.
