I'm open to suggestions, but this thread was prompted by something I read this morning - which was that the Bucks have never lost a series in which they led 2-0.
Until this season they Bucks hadn't won a single playoff series since 2001! At least for this century, they've never lost when up 2-0 because they've never been up 2-0. As for what happened last century, what does that have to do with anything? It's a stat without any meaning whatsoever.
What's your favorite most irritatingly stupid stat?

So many to list.
-When they do "the first player to put up [insert very specific stat line] ever in the [insert sport]" I always roll my eyes. It can just be 6 points 11 Rebounds 18 assists and maybe that combination has never been achieved.
Or a lot of stats referencing a player's performance on their birthday. First player to drop x number of points on their 27th birthday. Link below made me chuckle
-History based ones are pretty useless most of the time - "first time x team has beaten y team on the road in the last z seasons".
Per 48 minutes is a dumb stat - who plays 48 minutes?

For me it is comparing players from different era's and having people say without a doubt player X is the GOAT when people with common sense would be saying they have been the best of that era. The one that gets me the most is Curry because he gets called the greatest shooter of all time when if he was around before they outlawed defense he wouldn't even be a starter in the league because he is too small with bad ankles and can't handle any kind of physical play. So the rules changes for offense created an opening for him to take advantage of and good on him for doing it, but the narrative IMO is ridiculous.
Same thing about Montana vs Brady, the conversation is just dumb.

Other examples - implementation of the 24-sec shot clock, or implementation of the the 3-point line.

I did like the stat that the Warriors spent more time trailing than leading in their 4 game sweep of the Blazers. Execution when it matters most

I think I was watching a baseball movie with Tom Selleck once when he yelled at his manager "I led this team in 9th inning doubles in the month of June!"
