Micah Shrewsberry took a coaching gig at Purdue University, which leaves a vacancy on Brad’s staff.
I didn’t really put stock in it before, but I’ve read that former players can be valuable to have on the staff because of how they can relate to younger players, and be a guiding older brother type. That makes sense.
Would this be a good time to bring in Pierce? Perk? They’ve stated in the past that they want to work for the Celtics in some capacity.

The issue I had with Stevens assistant coaches was that they were all from college (sans Walter). I can faintly remember when Pitino was the head coach, and the team turned him off.

I'm for whoever can get the most out of JB and JT - assuming they are still here. The C's have an interesting decision coming up about Brown. They can extend him this summer, or not.

I think the best case scenario is that Tatum is part of a trade for AD so we will resign Brown as we can't lose both of them and I am sure that NO would want Tatum over Brown.

When I look at the salaries, I don't see any way that we could trade for AD and not include Smart. Horford is too old for N.O. to want him. GH is still damaged goods until he shows a lot more consistency and no one else makes enough. It will have to be Smart, Tatum or Brown, some bench guys and draft picks. Some of us would hate to see Smart go and others among us would help him pack. Probably the most polarizing Celtic since 'Toine.

As I said before I believe that is why Danny gave him an inflated 12M contract so he could be part of the AD trade and it would allow us to keep Brown. Who is a much better overall player and still growing.
As for filling the coaching spot with a former Celtic I am on board with Paul or KG, I don't think Perk brings anything to the table to our big guys because he was so bad offensively. That is why I want a guy who excelled at times in their career on both ends of the court.

I believe KG has already stated coaching is not in his plans. Sometimes great players make lousy coaches, and they’re aware of it.
I’d bring in Perk to be this generation’s Clifford Ray. Perk should be able to explain how to use the body and positioning to defend, as that was what he excelled at.
Maybe bring in Kevin Mchale?
By the way, I’m all for another round of Thibodeau, if he’s up for it.

I forgot about he was still unemployed, Thibs would be a great addition to the coaching staff.

If we are talking about past Celtics, add Leon Powe to the mix however I would really want McHale. Even if he teaches the "Rambis clothesline" move, that would be basketball gold.

I forgot about Powe - that'd be awesome. I think any previous player would be a nice move.

Bring Tommy back! HA HA, I'm not sure that would work. I'm not into the idea of Thibs mostly because he was so defense oriented, which is good, but Tatum, Jaylen crew needs some run and gun, and offensive sets. I also think at times our team D looked pretty good. Would Thibs want to be an assistant again? Paul is probably to comfortable doing tv, and his glasses would make him to easy to pick on. KG would be awesome just to put guys in their place, but as said earlier, I don't think he wants that life. What about Scal? I know he is super comfy with Comcast, but he is very intelligent, has played in the league, already "player coached" when first brought to the Celtics. I'm not sure Perk is a great fit, but he could certainly bring some toughness, grit, and work ethic to the table.

If Bickerstaff was the coach who got the most of a unit that didn’t have Gasol, Conley and Jaren Jackson, then this could be a coach worth bringing in.

Perk is a coach at the draft combine, getting some experience. I suppose coaching, and not being a sports commentator, is what he wants to do.
