The more I see the team's progress, or lack of progress, I think the master game plan is to have Danny Ainge take over as coach of the team or a remote chance of having another former celtic player (Bird, McHale, maybe even Cowens or Silas) take over the demolition project. Any thoughts?

I've been hearing this scenario pop up lately, but I just don't get the feeling this will happen. I feel that Ainge is more interested in building a championship team, not coach one.
But as for the others you mentioned becoming our head coach, I guess its a possibility. What better way to revive the Celtics way of basketball than by bringing back a player who played on the former great Celtics teams.
But all in all, I just feel that Doc will be our head coach for a couple of years, and if he doesn't bring us close to a title by the time his contract is expiring, then Ainge will move him. Ainge knows that Doc is under difficult circumstances, trying to win with such a young and new team.

I don't know. Ainge keeps saying how he approves of the job Doc is doing and how they are on the same page. But then again he was swearing he had no intentions of trading Walker a couple of days before pulling the trigger on the trade. Ainge was a very good coach but he left because coaching because it didn't give him enough time with his family. He is big time into family so not sure if he would want to coach again. One of the other former Celtic greats may be on his radar but I don't see it this year. Maybe in the off season if Doc continues to show ineptitude in game time decisions. But I think Doc stays at least till the offseason.

FL12, which former Celtic great are you thinking may be on Ainge's radar? Robert Parish (since they brought him in as a PR representative)?

Call me crazy, let's bring in the legend, Bill Russell.
On a serious note, is there a coach out there that can really develop talented, but young players? Most of the good coaches out there, only win w/ proven veteran players and the young players only play back-up roles.

I have been thinking either Ainge himself (which I think unlikely because of his desire to be at home more) possibly DJ who is having success in the D League. I don't think he would go with Chief or Russell. Chief has no coaching experience. Russell has left the Celts and gone out to the left coast. Maybe Cowans who has had some coaching success. If he is going with someone who hasn't been coaching. Maybe Cousy. I personnally like DJ. He has been coaching in the D League and winning there and has a good rep for teaching and defense without sacrificing the running game.

Anyone ever wondered why the Celtics organization has never offered to bring Tommy Heinsohn back as head coach? He's had success in the past as coach.

I have wondered that but just figured that it is because Tommy doesn't want to coach and is happy as the "Voice of the Celtics". Tommy has several times questioned Doc's rotations.

Tommy couldn't afford today's technical foul monetary penalties. He would rather whine about the officiating from behind the broadcast booth and hand out his Tommypoints.

Oh, by the way I just faxed my resume to Ainge's office for that coaching job. I wrote my piece on Coach Docs performance in Seattle last night. Seems like he had one too many shrimp cocktails on top of the space needle before the game.

Personally, I would love to see Tommy coach, however, at his age, and with the job he has now, we aren't ever going to see that. In the long run, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Danny threw an offer at Bird he just couldn't refuse, and brought him back to coach the team. I know this is a long shot, but here in Boston, stranger things have happened. That being said, Doc at least deserves a chance to coach these kids for a couple of years before having the plug pulled on him. With a young group of players, and a team that hasn't played together before patience must be in order. I mean, with all the talent Miami has, they should be right there with the Pistons, but because they are still learning to play with each other, they struggle from time to time. Also, look at all the difficulties Larry Brown is having in New York trying to find the right chemistry.

Does Larry even want to get back to coaching?

Miami didn't have Shaq-diesel for the first month, and there record reflects. Though, Det plays more cohesively as a team. 2 way in front of the pack, in the East.
