We were early favorites to represent the East in the NBA Finals -- the Pacers weren't supposed to be in our vicinity. But here we are, battling these Indiana Pacers, just to make it out of the first round of the playoff, and it hasn't been easy.
We're up 2-0, but these two games were won on our homecourt. And it both games, we were down by a sizeable hole (but pulled it out late in the game). And in both wins, we needed heroic efforts by our players to give us the victory.
But I'm feeling optimistic about our chances to go far this postseason -- yep, even making it to the Finals and possibly winning the title. Why? Because we might be peaking at the absolute right time, and we are just now at the tip of the iceberg.
We've been a disaster for the whole year. So inconsistent, so much drama, so divided …….. but once we stepped into the playoff arena, our guys embraced one another, and each player (except for Marcus Morris) has accepted his role, and we're starting to see what we thought we'd see from the beginning.
Playoff Kyrie is here, and locked in.
Hayward is looking, and playing like the Hayward of old.
Tatum's luster is beginning to shine once again, and he's trending upward.
Horford is releasing the beast inside of him.
Baynes is on the court doing his thing.
Jaylen has enthusiastically embraced his role as defensive stopper / complementary scorer (haven't seen Jaylen this animated before)
Rozier has learned self control.
We are pouring lots of energy on the defensive end.
These are what we didn't consistently have throughout the year, but is now falling into place. We are playing like a single unit, and not a dysfunctional assembly of parts.
This potentially could snowball us to the Finals, as we gain momentum.
