Tatum’s sophomore year didn’t go as we hoped or expected. Can’t blame it on injuries, or a lack of support from teammates. Could it be because of distractions and drama off the court?
Jayson, who is really composed and mature on the court, appeared immature off of it, as he dealt with complicated relational issues with 2 women (including the one who had his child).
I haven’t seen much talk about this, but I wonder if the drama affected him enough to throw off his oncourt concentration?
Whatever the case may be, we need a fully engaged Jayson Tatum playing big this postseason.

He'd score 10 points easily in the first qtr and then disappear for most of the rest of the game. I just don't think he ever knew his role, and that isn't necessarily his fault. He seemed "unchained" last Spring with Kyrie and Gordon out.

I think Jayson might be closer to his ceiling than most think, which is an efficient scorer @15-17 points a game. His sophomore season is more related to Brad's read and react offense, which evenly distributes the shot attempts. Also, I am not sure his guidance from Kobe Bryant helped, because taking ISO guarded long 2s is not want the team needs.

It seemed he made it more difficult than it needed to be. I swear he was trying to show us all his new ways he could score when the simple - 3 pointer, midrange jumper, and drive option is more than good enough to get the buckets he needs in our offense.

I agree, runrondo. While a consensus has formed that long 2s are the worst percentage shots in the game, he seems to seek them out. This isn't diving where degree of difficulty is a bonus. The curious thing to me is why his 3 pt FG% dropped so much. As a rookie he was shooting well over 40% before he hurt his finger. Presumably that's healed. On the bright side, here's an article I just stumbled upon: www.bostonherald.com/2019/04/10/jayson-tatum-celtics-hope-to-take-paul-pierce-up-on-his-offer/If this pans out, we'll be seeing a more aggressive JT taking it to the hoop more often.

I mainly wanted to point out this high schoolish drama Tatum was / is a part of. I read he ditched his girlfriend, the one who birthed his baby, and had another girlfriend — and also being in a relationship with some famous female singer (whose concert he attended after a game).
It took me by surprise because I imagined Tatum to be a mature kid who makes good decisions. This kind of offcourt drama needs to be avoided.
