Just finished reading Dan Shaughnessy's Wish It Lasted Forever, a book about the Bird era Celtics - particularly the '86 team. I know that DS can be, and often is, obnoxious, but not in this book - which I highly recommend to any Celtics fan.
DS was the Boston Globe's Celtics beat writer for 4 years and traveled with the team, so there's a lot of good stories about the interaction of the players, coaches, Red, DS himself and others. Some of the stories I'd heard but many I hadn't. Anyway, I really enjoyed it and this is a perfect time of year, when we're all starved for anything Celtics, to read it.

I got back on a reading kick at the beginning of covid. wish i would've stuck with it.
Matterhorn by Karl Marlantes. Insanely in-depth novel about the viet nam war by a man who served in it. You get absolutely immersed into it.
Travels with Charley - John Steinbeck chronicles a drive across america with his dog charley. great, short read. interesting to see people's thoughts on 1960 America.
The Indifferent Stars Above - Daniel James Brown - Tells the story of the Donner Party tragedy from several different angles. Perhaps the best non-fiction book ive ever read.

It took me forever, but I just finished the Aeneid. Didn't like. Now I'm making progress on JRR Tolkein's Unfinished Tales. I want to finish it before the Amazon Rings of Power show.

Anytime someone says a book is "perhaps the best non-fiction book ive ever read" my ears perk up. So I went to Amazon, to put it on my wish list (which I use to keep track of things I want to read), and I saw the author also wrote The Boys in the Boat, which I read a few years ago and which I absolutely loved. So now I'm REALLY looking forward to reading this. Thanks, fresh!
