I never thought Magic would be a good GM. I think he always believed that the combined allure of playing for the Lakers, everything the L.A. area offers, and his own personal magnetism, would be enough to attract premium free agents. It wasn't. He was a mediocre judge of talent, seeming to value a guy like Lonzo Ball - whose pass-first game mirrored his own, but whose shot is fatally broken - over D'Angelo Russell, who has blossomed in NY. Magic had no real plan to build a team other than signing LBJ and hoping to attract free agents to play with him - basically copying what Riley lucked into in Miami. But LBJ is no longer the draw he once was for other players. I'm sorry to see Magic quit - because someone who has a clue may take over for the Lakers.

Yeah, it didn't work out as they had expected. Paul George choosing OKC over LA was interesting.
If Rob Pelinka continues on as a decision maker there, we have nothing to worry about.

I was surprised how it went down. LAL is definitely not the allure of the past. If you exclude L James signing, every move of made by Johnson was poor.

Even before that, with an old Steve Nash, and the ever volatile Dwight Howard, that organization was heading on a downward spiral.
It's become a toxic organization.

Luke Walton and Lakers mutually part ways.
Laker-land really in a state of uncertainty right now.
