He’s going to be picked in the top 3, according to most draft sites, but I think that has more to do with the lack of star power at the top of the draft. He’s been talked about for a couple of years, and his game has matured in that time, but I’m not so high on Barrett. Like Harrison Barnes (another highly touted prepster with similar traits as Barrett), RJ is not a creative scorer. As athletic as he’s said to be, he looks a tad upright and not a contortionist.
Not saying he can’t be an All-Star or put up 20 ppg in the NBA. But if a team drafts him in hopes that he’ll follow Jayson Tatum’s trajectory, I think they’ll be disappointed.
