Davis requested as trade per Rich Paul. Injured. Pels wanted to sit him the rest of season. Davis returns. Injured again, and literally left the game with Paul. Gentry called the situation "a dumpster fire." Demps gets fired today.
Does anyone still want Davis? If so, what would give up?

i am not sold on AD as he reminds me of a more talented Chris Bosh as it cones to team results. So Tatum would not be in any trade for him. Msybe not even Brown. Smart and Rozier in a sign and trade with draft picks and anyone else not already mentioned.
I am close to saying let Kyrie go to NYC and keep what we have and go after a star who fits Brad's system better. I read soneone suggest that Boston would be a great fit for Klay Thompson but I don't think he would consider us. But I may be wrong.

The thing is, the salary cap won't allow us to sign another star. We can RE-sign Kyrie though. If we want to add someone else, we'd have to wait until summer 2020, when Al's contract is up. Al isn't going to get another 30+ mil per year contract at age 34. Maybe we'd be able to sign him fairly cheaply. Or maybe not.
Assuming we kept all our free agents this summer (Rozier, Morris, Baynes), how would we feel about going to war with the group that went to the ECF last year, plus a healthy Hayward and Theis, plus whatever the draft picks turn into? It still feels as though we'd be a little short, though Tatum and Brown are still getting better, and we might find a gem in the draft.

Afceltic - good point. I do not think Kyrie fits Brad's system (the read & react offense).
Jmost - Theis is a free agent too, while Baynes has a player option. I think if BOS rolled with what it has, then it has an equal (maybe not better) chance. GS is about to crumble, then there are probably 5 very good teams which on any given night can win.

Brandon Ingram's DVT diagnosis might mean his trade value plummets. I believe this is the same condition that sidelined Chris Bosh for good. Lakers might be out of the Anthony Davis chase.

I think the endgame for Ainge is pairing Davis with Kyrie, and adding one more star -- Kevin Durant?
Did anyone catch what Durant whispered under his breath in a recent game? He must has been upset at one of his teammates (Draymond?) and he says something like "that's why I'm out of here". And seeing Durant's demeanor lately, I think his time in Golden State is nearing its end.
It's well documented that Kyrie and Durant are close friends.
It all adding up to another exciting summer for Celtics fans.

I am OK trading Brown and picks, however Tatum and Smart are off the table. I do not think Tatum has reached his ceiling, however I do not think it is very high. Smart, his 3% in addition to much better shot selection.

I forgot where I read it, but something like if Horford opts out and re-signs for less (in exchange for a longer contract), and Durant opts out (he has a player’s option) and signs with us for much less than he’s worth, and assuming Kyrie does the same because he wants Durant here, then we’d be able to make this happen.
Anyone know if this is possible?
As much as I’m a fan of Tatum, and if at all possible would like to keep him here for his entire career, if we can march out a lineup of Davis-Horford-Durant-Hayward-Kyrie, I’ll sign the dotted line and enjoy a bunch of championship the next 5 years.

BOS would have to be under the cap to sign Durant, however it would have to be one of those PERT analysis diagrams, where it would have to be done only in a specific order to happen.

Smart, his 3% in addition to much better shot selection. I'm trending the exact opposite way. To me Brown is looking like he has a higher ceiling than Tatum (who is not particularly big or strong, not particularly quick or athletic and doesn't seem to have a knack for creating good shots for himself), and Smart still drives me crazy with his poor choices both shooting and passing. Plus, I know GMs can be creative, but I don't see an easy way to match salaries in a trade for Davis without including Smart. If we could go into next season with Irving, Davis, Horford, Brown and a healthy, fully recovered Hayward, I'd do it in a minute - even if it meant giving up Tatum, Smart, multiple picks and some bench players for salary matching.
