Pelicans want assurance from us that we’re going to offer a package they’ll be happy with. We’ e told them to be patient and wait till summer cause we’re going to present an explosive package, and everyone is on the table (except Kyrie, of course).
So does mean bye bye Tatum?
The only way I see Ainge offering Tatum is if he’s convinced he can also bring in Durant, or Klay, or Kawhi. Kyrie and AD by themselves will not take down the Warriors (maybe not even the upgraded 76ers, or the surprsingly powerful Milwaukee Bucks). We need a legit big 3 comprised of All-NBA teamers.

If Magic hadn't overvalued Ball and had taken Tatum instead, he might have had enough to get Davis. To me the Lakers are offering a lot of junk and the Pelicans would be foolish to trade with them. LAL have seemed to make one bad move, only compounded by another. I do not think there is an asset offered to NO which NO would regret passing. LAL, if they really want Davis say as free agent, would then have to save cap space.

I don't think anyone really knows what Danny has told them. Maybe he's just assured them that our offer will be better than the Lakers' without going into specific players. I doubt he's promised Tatum; More likely he's said that he's willing to talk about anyone. N.O. can see pretty easily that we have much better assets than the Lakers without us having to spell it out. I've been trying to figure out how to make salaries match. Does anyone know if we could sign someone like Morris and then trade him right away as part of a package for Davis?

I am pretty sure you can't trade free agent players that you sign until December 15th. I believe the answer to your question is no.

That's what I thought, and I doubt N.O. would be willing to wait until December, especially if picks are involved. To me it looks like we'd have to trade some combination (2 out of 3) of Smart, Brown and Tatum, plus filler to make salaries match, plus picks to close the deal.

Would anyone be disappointed if Kyrie left? The only person who would look bad would be him. So the franchise has house money when it comes to him since we have Rozier. He isn't anywhere as good as Kyrie but the position won't fall off the clif if he does leave.
I still think he is just trying to get attention and will stay.

The problem is that Davis staying might well depend on Kyrie staying, so if we lose one, we likely lose both. We won't stink, but we won't be elite either - unless we get very lucky with some of the picks.
I agree the most likely scenario is Kyrie staying though.

My feeling is Kyrie is sold on winning here in Boston. The fans, the organization, the ownership, the coach are all top notch, and coming from that dysfunctional CLE organization, Kyrie can see the amazing difference. I feel he’s already talked to AD and feels they can team up here.
I think Durant wants to stick it to the Warriors (maybe Draymond) by beating them in the Finals. He can do that by teaming up with Kyrie and AD. Remember, is was only a few summers ago in the Hamptons when Durant listened to our sales pitch, before signing with the Golden State. We are on a short list of places he’d play for.

I can’t see why Davis or Kyrie would consider teaming up in New York. What do they possibly see about that organization that would make them think the folks in NY can smartly orchestrate and sustain a winning product?

I don't see how we could afford to sign Durant as a free agent. Don't cap rules prevent that? Hayward, Horford are already making over $30 mil each. We can't fit both Kyrie at $33 mil and Durant at $38 mil and be under the $109 mil cap, remembering we still have Smart, Tatum, Brown, Rozier and others.

Kyrie is a great player, top-15 however he is also a top-15 diva too. He needs media training, ASAP.

So now from the video showing Kyrie trying to recruit Durant to NYK it looks like we are his backup plan if he can't get anyone to follow him to the Bricks.
So I am say we move on from this drama queen because he gives us the headaches of that LeFlop gives franchises without the LeFlop results. Let him enjoy being the next Melonie in NY that doesn't win squat.

Kyrie is wearing on me. He gets all upset because people are talking about him (and KD) and speculating about what they were talking about, and says it's nobody's business, and doesn't seem to understand that unlike players, who are going to make their millions wherever they go, FANS are passionate about one team and care deeply about who they're going to have on their team next year. He loves to talk, and clearly loves attention - until he doesn't. I have serious doubts about this guy's leadership potential. Mostly I just wish he'd shut up.

I wonder if Danny is tired of defending Kyrie? Every week, Danny appears on a radio show and a question is asked to explain what Kyrie said. Now, Danny being a former player, coach, and now a GM is media savvy, and can spin anything he wants, but still.
