At this point I have to blame Coach Stevens. He just absolutely has not figured this team out, they aren't playing with any real pride or urgency, and he's not holding them accountable. There don't seem to be any consequences for getting beat up routinely.
Teams aren't even mildly nervous about playing the Celtics any more. We're getting close to a quarter of the way through the season and it just doesn't look much better that at the start. It just doesn't.

Eja, thanks foe getting up the game thread. I think the root cause of these losses is Coach Stevens force feeding Hayward minutes, because it has trickle down effect. Tonight, Brown shows up and Stevens only played him 19 minutes? Now, on the positive side, Irving is back balling, shooting 50% from the FG, usual volume scoring and assists.

It seems Kyrie is the only one rounding into shape right now. I agree that having to force feed Hayward minutes is definitely affecting things as well. He's going to take a lot longer to get up to speed just due to the injury but it's clearly affecting Brown/Tatum this year. I still think our attitude/effort looks off as well. It's just different getting the right mindset/motivation when you're playing as a team everyone expects to be good as opposed to last year when we were out to prove something. Gotta go back to attacking and playing well-rounded on the offensive and defensive end.

I've never seen a guy have so many shots just barely miss as Hayward has for the past bunch of games. Not wild, or wide, or front rim, but in and out. I'm confident his shot will start to go in, and otherwise he looks pretty good. I don't think he's the problem, especially when we shoot 50% and still lose.
I'm more concerned with why we can't seem to stop anyone who gets on a roll, especially guards. I thought Smart was supposed to be an elite perimeter defender. Sorry, but other occasional great plays I don't see it. We're allowing good players to look like great players. For a team that supposedly prides itself on its D we can't be losing games where we shoot over 50%.

He does not trust himself, nor his teammates. On a side note, I noticed even though K Walker scored at will, he also gave up points at will on defense. Also, the POR game, BOS exposed Dame on defense.
