Dan Dickau crumbled to the floor on a fastbreak play with just minutes remaining in last night's game. He said that it felt like someone stepped on his heel from behind of him as he was leading the break, but no one was behind him.
It is a strong possibility that he's going to be out with a torn achille's tendon.
This may be a good thing for Orien Greene, who has now been relegated to minutes behind of Marcus Banks. He should not get whatever minutes Delonte and Marcus leave behind.
This also means we are strictly relying on young kids running the show and what's more of a nightmare is that it'll mean more PG responsibilities on Pierce's and Ricky's shoulders. I expect their turnovers to increase.

And Banks has to play 30+ mins. There's an answer...
Ya gotta hate a player having a major injury. I bet he has nice ins. Maybe one could live on 2-4 million - for the rest of their life.

feel sorry for him but the kids get more minutes now. it seems that lack of other options is the only thing that makes doc use youngsters more. seems like the top five pick is on our way anyway...

Don't really see the problem here. Dickau rarely played, how then are we going to miss him? With Banks back, we still have 3 PG, so why would it put more PG duties on PP & Ricky?

I agree Ossric. Dickau never played anyway, usually only as "free-throw closer" at the end of the game.
Nobody really wants to give Banks a shot, but I really feel that right now he is all we got. (have). Nobody else is doing much. Delonte does a little bit of everything, but like BC said is not excellent in any one thing.
Unless we make a trade, give Banks one last final shot to play extended minutes. What else do we have to lose? (Other than games we are losing anyway)

Baks has cleary outplayed Orien Green the last two games, and everyone had outplayed Dickau. I say ride it. If Orien Green can't beat out Banks without getting 30mpg then I don't want him. It's not like Banks is Kidd or something. Delonte beat out Banks. He did it in comparable playing time and it was pretty obvious from early on that he would be just as good give or take if not better than Banks. Orien hasn't showed me that so I'd say he's quite likely to be next on the chopping block. Don't worry Derren. Next year if DA doesn't draft a 1rst round pg you love I'm sure he will draft some tall injured pg with the 58th pick that you'll fall in love with.

I agree w/ Esco that we should give Banks a chance. Nothings to lose.
In my opinion, the only thing Dickau's injury cemented was another Danny free agent that we thought could be a starter, and barely contributed.

I'd certainly give Banks a shot to stick with the team. He does have a niche that is fairly important.
But, if a good trade comes along that needs to include Banks, and it will benefit the team to do the trade, Ainge needs to pull the trigger.

Yeah, but if he doesn't start producing like an All-Star in the first week of the season, you'll be calling for his head, anyways ;D

Yeah, but if he doesn't start producing like an All-Star in the first week of the season, you'll be calling for his head, anywaysI know I know. And after like 4 years when he's still getting beaten down by other teams like he still has no business in the league you'll be like "Give him a chance. Give him a chance"

Well, 4 years is exagerating it some. I will, at least, give this 58th pick more than 23 games in his rookie season to prove himself. Maybe 20 games, if he wasn't injured for the bulk of the preseason and summer league.

There has to be a time-limit so to speak in when you give up on young players. A lot depends on the position, their age, how quickly their progressing, and their potential. Orien is a 2-3 year project, closer to 3.
Most of the young high school players we have are 3-5 years away. Gerald Green is on a 3-4 year plan. Big Al and Perk are just starting to get extended minutes in their second and third years.
Chauncey Billups, Joe Johnson were mistakes, and were traded too early.
Kedrick Brown should have been let go earlier.
You cannot give up on players too early, and sometimes you have to know when to give up on them.
This is Banks last chance in order to either prove what he can do with this team or get traded. He is in his 3rd year. I agree with Derren that if a good deal for a point guard comes along, then we may have to pull the trigger and trade Banks. But it all depends for who.
I say give him one last chance before he is let go. Give him an opportunity to shine. If the light goes out, then get rid of him.

D West had done more after 23 games than Orien and I would say Banks had done about the same amount. I guess you could say they both had shown flashes. Plus you gotta keep in mind that Banks is outplaying Orien even though he hasn't been able to practice in about 3 months

People jumped on the Orien Greene bandwagon too early. The reason is because he was drafted 58th and he could play. Whether or not he can ever be a major contributor is still up in the air, but for now, Banks is definately the better player, and should be the one getting the minutes.
